Grady's finger slipped. Change the 'S' to an 'A' (IAC). AKA IAB.

Is that enough acronyms?

Sorry guys, that is how the Tweecer lists that device in all of its functions, scalars, and what have you.

I guess they are calling it a Idle Speed Controller.

Looks like I'v been brain washed or maybe I should say ... Tweecerized

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to check the vacuum lines tomorrow. Also I was thinking there is a small exhaust leak that sounds like it coming from where the exhaust manifold bolts up to the engine block. Could that effect anything. Would it make enough of a difference to the O2 sensors?

Oops. I take it back - Grady did not have a finger slip. Sorry for the 'bad' deduction on my behalf.
And thanks Grady for the info. I read the forum at times, and probably dismissed the ISC as yet another thing I don't understand.

JT

Its no big deal really.

Seems like there are so many different ways to talk about these various sensors and sometimes it makes it difficult to keep it all straight.

I've used the Tweecer environment for the most part to teach myself about this stuff so I guess I just have a tendency to use their descriptions.

I did not to mean to mislead or confuse anybody.

I still say that whatever you want to call it ......................................

You might want to give it a good cleaning.

Just a couple of thoughts

Mustangman94, I don't see how that a small exhaust leak at the header would cause the ping. But, could it be that you're hearing the exhaust leak instead of a ping? Exhaust leaks can sound a lot of different ways (if that makes any sense?). That could be the whole problem in itself.

Grady, I think that maybe the ping you fixed with the heads was from
the messaging that you did on the combustion chambers. It probably wasn't much, but it could have opened them up just enough to lower compression slightly. Just a thought.

I wish it was just that. It pings really hard up top near 5k and I can without a doubt it is pinging and not exhaust leak.

I've had the same problem and I agree that our computers just seem to be on the edge from the factory. My car has always pinged, just gets worse over time.
I'm now running about 5 degrees base timing. new MAF, IAC, ECT, fuel pump and filter, plugs, wires.......... fuel pressure is 38 with hose disconnected.
There is a post somewhere here where a guy did a simple mod to his maf basicly fooling the computer into thinking more air was flowing than really is. This makes the car run richer (with o2's compensating during closed loop) and he was able to crank his timing up like the 93 and older cars. I haven't tried the mod. It's about the same as getting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, but free.
