Planning on purchasing one now, the best i found was on ebay for 369 shipped, it is blank however, ive read some stuff on diablo tuner and heard its a waste but then others say it isnt? Just curious if i should get a tuner or a chip or the predator. Im all confused on the tuner chip deal, do you have to have the chip to have the tuner? Should i pay more to another company so they can put the right tunes in it for my car? what mods should i get with this tuner/chip that would make the stang come alive?

Well that price on ebay is a ripoff. Many GOOD tuning shops like Modular PowerHouse, JMS, MD are charging around 399 WITH THE TUNES. If you buy that one from ebay, those shops will charge you over 100-170 bucks to create a tune for it. You do the math

I won't buy any tune/flashing device from a parts warehouse. Always go to a reputable shop to get them.

All the Xcal/xcal2/xcalsf is is a device that loads tunes into your ecu. A tuner uses a software program(advantage 3.0) to create the tune files and they load them into the xcals. They can also mail them to you as well so you can make adjustments(xcal). Where the xcal2/xcalsf you can make adjustments right from the prgrammer itself.

As for how much power will you get, that all depends on how good the tuner is and your mods. You will feel a sotp difference though.
Hope this helps.

all my mods are in the sig, i was thinking maybe getting a cold air intake and a pulley set might help the tuner do a lil better.

If the Xcal you're looking at is the 9415 SF, then it will have canned tunes on it already. If it is the 9400, you will need tune(s) from a dealer. This could cost you another $100. For $369, just go to a reputable Xcal vendor and buy a new one. For $10 more, you'll get new stuff and vendor support. Just make sure you pick a vendor that does respond to you. Justin at www.vmptuning.com seems to be very responsive in email and message board posts. Don at Lasota Racing also has a good presence on Mustang message boards. There are others but those two come to mind right now.

Go for a tuner and not a chip. A tuner is basically like the chip but you can make changes to it yourself. A chip requires a dealer/vendor to make changes for you. Some will charge you more each time you need a change made.
