another stupid q I know...but I cant get the rotor off the spindle...

im dismantling my front cobra setup so i can sell the 96 spindles since im using 94 spindles...i got the caliper off...the two retaining nuts off the rotor but the rotor wont budge off the spindle...i even tapped the studs lightly with a hammer and all that did was push the studs out a little...any tips? thanks
 
bearings have nothing to do with the rotor. the caliper and the lug nuts are what keeps the rotor on the hub. most likely just packed with dust and dirt and needs to be broken loose.
 
The studs are attached to the hub, not the rotor. Hammering the studs doesn't seem like its helping your cause.

Try the PB blaster, and if that doesn't work, some heat and a dead-blow mallet on the rotor should.
 
Looks like some of you are confusing this with the stock setup. He's using '94 spindles, so he's also using the individual hub/sealed bearing assembly. If this is like my 96, the studs are part of the hub/bearing ass'y. The rotor is separate from the studs, unlike the stock setup. Hitting the studs wont do anything for the rotor. Get a ball pean hammer and hit between the studs on the wheel mounting surface. NEVER hit directly on the rotor where the pads brush as this can lead to warping. Theres probably some rust accumulated behind the rotor where it sits against the hub ass'y. Get some PB and spray into the holes where the studs poke through. Let sit for 30 minutes then spray again. Make sure to turn the rotor a little so the bottom studs are near the top that way the PB can get into other areas. After about 10 more minutes, hit the rotor with the hammer (near the studs) and try loosening. Make sure you have the caliper and mount completely out of the way.
 
Usually there are two small clips that Ford slides over the lugs to keep the rotor on during factory assembly. These are usually removed the first brake job. If they are still present on the rotor, you'll need to remove them.

Once removed. Spray the lugs and center hub with PB blaster and let it sit.

Come back and whack the rotor with a 2x4 or rubber mallet and work each side. Should begin to work loose then
