Another tire thread, anyone run these?

Sorry for how many lately, but I'm curious if anyones run these before.

Kumho Ecsta 711

Would appreciate as many replies as possible, I need tires quickly, no one has used tires in my size and I dont want to spend a fortune.

Or Falken ZE512

I run the falken ziex's. They suck teh ballsac. Poor traction, horrible treadwear (close to bald after 9k). And guess what, finished up putting in new struts, CA's, went to get it aligned and they couldn't get it to stop pulling to the right because of these P.O.S. tires. No way I would EVER buy them again.

the ecsta kumho is pretty good my friend had a set and i ran them when he got rid of them they are a tire and do their job

I run the Kumho ASX's and love them , I have heard the 711's are loud on the road and dont last but over all I have had good luck with Kumho's

I've had Kumho 711's and 712's on cars before. Both very good tires for the money. Handling is predictable, with gradual (instead of sudden) breakaway in hard turns. Traction of the line, however ... ehhhhh. They're more for handling and looks than launches, that's for sure. They shed water like none other, and (at least the ones I had) they're decent for regular driving in the rain. Heck, I've even run them in the snow on a '91 Trans Am and a '94 Probe GT (back when I lived in Missouri) and they still got around as well as any other tire.

Dunno 'bout the other brand(s), though. Never tried 'em.

I've had 3 set of the 512's and am about to replace my first set of the 711's. They both have a short tread life. I have to buy new tires every spring for the 90, and it doesn't even get driven that far.

Wow, I couldn't disagree with you more! I'm loving these tires... went to the track and busted a 2.0 60' launching @ 2000 rpms. The traction is superb for a $104 street tire, I've only gone 4000 miles and burnt them more than once and I have tons of meat left on 'em.

Side note.... if they're almost bald anyway, why would want them aligned? Not gonna make that big of difference on the track and if they're almost bald why worry about uneven wear?

I've run the 711's. They were good in the rain and a decent tire for the money. They do get noisier as they wear. I was going to buy another pair for the front, but was told by 2-3 different places that they'd been out of production for about a year. I think I put about 30000-35000 miles on the fronts(that's w/o proper rotation) When I bought them, I paid about $378 out the door at Discount Tire Co for the 711's. However, for $106.00 a tire at 1010 tires (245/50/16), there are better choices.

I'm running the Kumho ECSTA AST 245/50/16 now and they can be had for $61.00ea. from tirerack.com They are a decent tire for the money, but I don't expect them to last much longer than the 711's. If you want to drop 100.00 per tire look at the Yokohama tires or the Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus at www.tirerack.com for 88.00ea.

Kumhos seem to be a decent tire. I had some old Falkens a while back and they always seem to be hard as a rock and are pretty much terrible for traction anywhere

I had 711's on my S2000, too noisey for a vert IMHO. Predictable handling wet or dry but poor treadlife. I only got about 5k on them before they needed to be replaced, but I did drive it fairly aggresively when I had it

I got an alignment because I put in new struts, strut mounts, and control arms. Why would I want a car that pulls one way while going 100 mph. Doesn't seem to safe. I am glad your set of ziex's have worked out for you. Maybe I just got a bad batch?

I have Kumho Ecsta 711 on my fox and they are horrible. they dont hook up at all. thats why i bought the nitto NT555R drag radials.

well i have the 711's on my 86 and they handle very good, dont hook the best, but I think they hook better than the falken units.

Falken ziex 512s. For the money they are the best hooking tire I have seen. The bolt on, intake car went a 1.90 60 on those tires, and the head cam intake still cuts 2.0s, albeit traction is a little harder to come by now. I like those tires and Ill probably buy a 3rd set cause Im broke and they work. Ill get some drag radials for the track though.

i currently have the Falken ZE512 on the rear of my Z28 and i have been very pleased with them. the 512's and the 711's are some of the cheapest directional low-profile tires out there, so dont have the highest expectations. still, im quite pleased with mine. great traction
