I know this has been brought up many times before but i still can't find a straight answer or at least one that applies to my particualr car. I swapped in an modded 88 TC motor, 5-speed, rear and did some other work last summer and now my car has some viscious wheel hop in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd gear. The car is totally gutted and so it sits way higher in the back then stock but still has the stock 4 cyl springs in it. I was looking into aftermarket control arms to help with wheel hop. The ride is already too stiff, so lowering springs i think will only make the ride worse, plus they are expensive. I've read that maybe plymouth reliant springs will fit and help lower the car and smooth the ride. I don't car about the car's ability to turn or handle. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your control arm bushings are wore out...

Try control arm bushings as step one.

Next, try some Lakewood Traction bars or some lift bar lower arms.

I had this in major proportions until I put the Lakewoods back on.

Just put all poly bushings in this past summer and installed quad shocks. No help there. I was looking into getting a set of the granatelli adjustable lower arms. Thought this would help wheel hop and lower the car a bit in the rear. I heard traction/lift bars tend to tear up the torque box on fox bodies. Wasn't sure to go with better arms or go with the traction/lift style. I suppose reinforcing the torque box would help if i got traction bars. Whatever will cure the wheel hop for sure. Also, the vertical shocks aren't old but they are cheap and i think they are part of the problem also.

I've been thinking about getting lift bars for mine after the 2.3T goes in. The turbo engine doesn't have the low end torque of a V8 so it shouldn't be "as" hard on the torque boxes (at least not as hard on 'em as the hop). With poly bushings I'd think its the control arms that are flexing. If you want to go cheap try boxing the stock arms (upper & lower).

I'm stuck between getting the granatelli adjustable lower arms or the lakewood traction lift lower arms.

I don't know anything about the granatelli's, whats adjustable? length, weight jackers (ride height) or both. Either way it sounds like you need stiffer control arms and either should do it. The lift bars will improve the suspension geometry for better traction and will flex less than the stock peices to help reduce/eliminate hop but are not ride height adjustable.

The stock arms "should" work just fine if everything is working properly. I've NEVER had a wheel hop problem in any of my fox mustangs and I saw an SVO go high 10's with stock control arms and such on slicks...no wheel hop.
