Challenge - figure out what make and model car hit me...see the pics.

My beloved black 2002 GT was totaled on April 1, 2008, but then it was replaced a few days later with my latest love, my 2004 Mach 1. Well, the gods wouldn't leave that one alone either. Today I was rear-ended by a chick that was simply not paying attention as traffic was stopping for a red light. She plowed into me pretty hard. I was very surprised to see the minor amount of damage to my car since hers had major damage - she essentially drove up underneath my bumper...and then she decided to drive off.
Yep, drive off...as in c-ya later... As soon as she hit me, I put my flashers on and dialed 911. While I am talking to 911 she is barking behind me about something, and then decides to move off of the main road and onto the secondary road at the stop light where she had hit me. OK, fine, so I finished my phone call within a minute or so and then proceeded to follow her around the corner. And then I discovered she was gone.
So I dealt with the fire and rescue folks and the police and then crawled home, fortunately just about one mile away. I was crawling because the left tailpipe was heavily damaged and was rubbing on the tire badly.
A couple hours later the police called to tell me the chick called them to report the accident and was accusing ME of driving off. Umm, no lady, I don't think so - we were all there and you were not. So then she confesses that she panicked and drove off because it wasn't her car. What pisses me off is she had no idea if I was injured or not...she apparently didn't care. (Fortunately I think I am OK - my back is sore, but I've had problems with my back since my 2008 accident. I had already had scheduled a doctor's appt tomorrow, so it works out well in that respect.)
A couple hours ago the local Ford dealership came over and put my Mach on their flatbed and were delivering it to their bodyshop. I'll stop by tomorrow (in my rental car - a Dodge mini SUV thingamabob) and see what the deal is.
I am concerned about them replacing the damaged parts of the exhaust. I have Magnaflow from front to back and I certainly don't want that changed - IE replaced with Ford OEM parts. The bumper will definitely have to be replaced, as will the driver's side tailpipe. And that left rear tire is unsafe now. Not sure beyond that. The exhaust is hanging very low in the middle right now due to the accident. At the joint of the midpipe to the catback it's only about 3" off the ground. Thanks, you dumba$$ chick.

There was a nice shiny Magnaflow exhaust tip sticking out here...:nonono:

You got the color right - it was blue...but the make and model is still up in the air. Wow, I thought this would be easy, but then again I know the answer. This make has a very distinct grill that you'll find on all of their models (at least a very similar design). They've had the same basic design since way back when...at least the 60's.

My wife's mustang got hit a little over a month ago. Drunk driver blew through a stop sign on an off ramp. T-boned her around 50-60 mph. She got a few bumps but nothing serious. The driver of the truck walked away from the scene and was never caught. All the passenger knew was his name was Juan.

Women :nonono: Drive off and blame it on you...I'd be enraged.

Hopefully everything gets worked out. The other party's insurance covered my fender bender and from what I saw when I was at the body shop, they will order aftermarket replacement parts if available.

Thanks for all the remarks...yeah, it was pretty frustrating, (OK, very frustrating, EXTREMELY frustrating), but I've had a better day today. I went to the doctor this morning, then over to the Ford bodyshop to authorize them to begin work. The Progressive claims adjuster was there, so I got to talk in depth with him, the bodyshop guy, the paint guy...it was a very productive discussion. We took our time surveying the damage to try to ensure nothing was missed. I wanted to be certain they would be replacing my Magnaflow parts with the exact same. Progressive said no problem. They are also paying to replace the tire, though I will likely pocket that cash, wait a little while and then just buy a new PAIR of the new Nitto NT05's. NT05R

They are also replacing the (simulated) carbon fiber "Mustang" letters on the rear bumper.

Which brings me to my next question - has anyone seen these Carbon Fiber style letters? I told the adjuster and the body shop guy that I would try to help them in their quest to find these letters. Have any of you guys seen these? See the pic above.

Thanks Josh - yeah, I still have those SLP tips...I actually had planned to put those on my son's 92 5.0L Fox vert, but that hasn't happened yet. Progressive called me late on Friday and said they did locate the correct (matching) Magnaflow exhaust pieces as well as they located CF Mustang rear bumper lettering. Progressive Insurance is awesome.

My back is worse than ever now. Sucks.

Heck, I still have a brand in, still in the box, K&N Fliltercharger CAI kit...I bought that on CraigsList several months ago...stole it for $40 (as I said, it's brand new, never opened). But I then found out that I have to take off the strut tower brace to install it (and may not be able to put it back on), which requires taking the wheels off...it's gonna be quite a job to install it.

Hope all is well with you my friend - take it easy.

Geez man! Hopefully insurance continues to help you out and you get some relief for the pain too man!

Well, although the difference in engines from 4v to 2v, both my Steeda CAI and Vortech discharge tube both fit underneath my MM STB. So I'd almost think about buying a six pack and test fitting that thing on there once you get it back and shiny! So hopefully that is a good sign for the fitment for the FilterCharger!

I have a set of black Mustang letters you can have if you do not like the new version of CF ones.

I've added a ton of things since I last sent you pictures or talked. Once you get the car back we need to cruise out to Checkers on US19 one Friday night and enjoy the classic cars there too!
