Got the 03 GT just over a week ago and already want/need to do a mod. In this case its something simple, just wanted to see how many others had done the same.

Took the car through the auto car wash here (I know, big mistake!) and it slightly bent the antenna. Since the thing is like 50 ft long (or so it seems) I thought I'd replace it with a shorter aftermarket. How many have done it?

Looking at a 13 inch billet from American Muscle, only $26.99 which isn't bad. I hate long antenna's so I would have replaced it anyways.

This is the one I got, I like it. There is maybe a little less reception with this one but nothing major.

I have the 8" long one from steeda and love it. Cost me $36 or so. A little expensive. I'll take a pick and post it tonight if you want.

So the antenna cable stays in place? Cool. I'm used to ooooold cars that you had to go through the wheel well to hold onto the cable as you screwed in the antenna.

I got the 14 in. antenna. Like it because it matches up with the roof line.

I have the Steeda short antenna and it work sufficiently enough. Look on the internet but make sure you don't buy a really cheap one b/c I did that and I would have been better off with a paperclip shoved in the hole.

I got the billet antenna from American Muscle. Didn't really like anything better and it claims to have just as good reception as stock. Being 13" its shorter without being too short.

good choice, the 13-14" ones looks really well w/ the roof line. the smaller ones look a bit odd to me

I have the 12" or 14" stockish looking one from American Muscle. I love it, it is just below the roof line and looks perfect.

mine was perfect with my roof line until i put triple double-stack non-functional non-painted roof scoops on so i just put a 3 inch strobing neon on top the antenna, held on by a nos sticker.

A shorty antenna is a subtle way to add looks by taking away (length). Either the homemade way or store bought version, the stock whip antenna looks way out of place to me and should be replaced by one of those. I started with a cheapo autoparts store generic one, but it looked too thick and was the type that bent over in the wind. Not cool.
I too ended up the 8" AM version that did look a little dramatic at first to me, but have gotten used to it and now prefer it. Far FM stations take a beating though, but that's what the CD player and/or open windows are for.

Damn, I'm too late!

You should have cut the antenna down to size an re-painted it. You could have saved a good amount of money, for the same exact end product.

Word to the wise, before other people out there spend money on this mod.

Thanks, but its already bent and what I'm paying for a new one is chump change. At least this isn't hard to explain to the wife.
