Not sure but I do know there were changes made to the 01 mid season. I have a 2001 made in june and my pullies are different than earlyer 01's. Learned that the hard way when installing my s/c. I was also told the compression ratio is higher on the 2001's due to different heads.

The 02 have a neat little storage compartment above the rear view mirror. And they supposedly have bigger MAF (85 vs. 80).
Hey guys, did we ever settle that argument?

I think the heads are supposed to be better in the 02's. It has been rumored that the 2001 GTs have a higher compression ratio due to a head casting error.

Unless you got an 02 in the first half of the production year, like me, and got no storage compartment. The 02 sales brochure also said they would have 4-way adjustable headrests but that didn't come about until the 03 Cobra.

I don't think the 01's had the tall hood scoop, except for the Bullitts, of course.

There are very few changes from a Mid year on 2001 GT and a 2002 GT.

T-3650 change was Feb 01

All 2001 GT's have the hood scoop and the side scoops.

Performance Red was replaced by Torch Red for 2002

Sonic Blue came out in late 2002

Minearal Grey was new for 2002

Very early 2001 GT's had Winsor engines and the lower compression ratio. I'd guess the pully change with the change back to Romeo engines.

Don't know about the MAF.

01+ are the Romeo blockS and the 99-00 have the WindsorS, I think. In 01 they changed the dish of the pistsons to a .145-inch dish from a .188-inch.

In Febuarary of 01 was when the change the trannies from the T45 to the Tr3650.
T45- http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/T-45.asp

Tr3650- http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/products/TR-3650.asp

Mafs are larger in the 02s. 85 from a 80. I also think they changed the size of the Throttle bodies but that may have been 03.

I measured the MAF and t/b on my friend's early 2001, another friend's 2002 and my 2003. All were 80mm with 65mm t/b.

thanks guys..just curious..im loving my new 02 gt vert 5spd, just got it last week..first mod im doing is the BBK coldair intake and then the loudmouth. I had the slp loudmouth on my ls1 z28 and it was loud so i figured the mustang will sound the same..but obviously difference since its true dual..But i always loved the way mustangs sound, with that crisp exhaust definition, i hope the loudmouth doesnt ruin that..I need to start saving for a Supercharger

I think the MAF in the 01 is more restrictive because the plastic post holding the resistive element goes all the way through the MAF whereas in the 02 it only goes down halfway. That's what I gather from looking at an 01 MAF on the MM&FF website.
