Is there any difference between a 8.8 rear axle from a mustang and a 8.8 rear axle form a ford explorer? Just thought it might be a better buy from a salvage yard to buy the one from the explorer because there less likely to have been beat. Is this a direct bolt in?

Won't work. Parts out of it will but the assy will not. Explorers use leaf springs. Mustangs do not...

The newer explorers ('02+ ?) have IRS too.
