Ok, I got my new 2100 yesturday. That amp rocks!!!

Now the only question is where do I install them? I need some ideas.

I will try to add a pick to show the size.

In that picture it looks there are 3 amps. If that's right then depending on what your trunk looks like (if you have stuff back there already or not) you could mount the larger one across the back seats and the mount the two smaller ones on plywood covered with fabric (to match the trunk) on an opposing sides of the trunk on an angle.

The thing that'd be cool about mounting them on the angle where the trunk goes more in, right by the back, is that then when you open the trunk you see the amps right away and it would look kinda cool I think! Your idea also works well, similar idea just moved up a bit. When you say under the rear deck do you mean in between the rear speakers or underneath the actual trunk lid? Cause that'd be cool too, when you open the trunk then you'd have the amp right visible!

When I say under the rear deck I mean the spot where the factory system would sit. I had my other amp mounted there. It was pretty much out of sight unless you looked under the deck. I am planning to use some red cold cathodes to light it up too.

Those Orions are beautiful amps. Whatever you do, dont mount the amps upside down...the will get alot hotter than usual this way.
If you wanted to go really stealth, you could make an amp rack and a false floor (with some fans to keep them cool), so you can't see anything. Also good for security.

Hey Joe,

Do you work at Staples? Cause I see you car in that parking lot a lot! Also I think you live near a friend of mine, do you live kinda near 1st ave north? And one last thing I think I met you once last year in the parking lot at future shop. Back then I had a 99 V6 it was dark green and you showed me your gauges and the bezel! Was that you?

Yup that was me. But no I don't work at Staples I am at Costco.

As for the amps being mounted upside down, I am not worried about it. I had my Lightning Audio 4.600 mounted upside down for over a year now. Without a fan, that Orion 2100's heat sink is freaking huge. Think of it this way, the circuit board is mounted to a heat sink, then that heat sink is mounted to anouther heat sink that has a fan sitting in the middle of it. Beleive me there is no way that bad boy is overheating.

I had plans drawn up for a 2 teired amp rack in my car Joe. It went under the rear deck but when you opened the trunk it would tilt the racks down so you could get a better presentation of the amps. It also allowed the amps to sit right side up so cooling wasn't a problem.

Mount them upside down and you increase your chances of overheating them. I have two friends who are car audio installers, and they say the #1 and #2 problems they see for amps dying are people who mount them to the sub box, or people who mount them upside down. And they have seen all types of amps come back, even the high-end ones. JMHO

I have had the HCCA's mounted under glass, running .5 ohm and they never shut off or showed any sign of burning up. I am not worried. Besides like I said I am running a Lightning Audio 4 channel upside down right now, has been for over a year now. I haven't had a problem.

Most people who have a problem are overdriving the amp way too far and that will hurt an amp faster then making it a little warm.
