several people have told me to just get rid of it. A couple of them have been autocrossers. I got rid of mine and couldnt even begin to tell a difference.
that brace saved my cars life, i hit a car right where the brace is and it bent up like a pretzel. saved my motor. I've had it off now for about a year. Gets in the way of me working on it all the time. I didnt even notice any handeling difference at all.

It's there to help prevent body flex, stablize the car better. don't know how well it works tho. only one real way to find out.

I had my STB off since last month as a "test run" for June when I get my Kenne Bell sc. I've been doing alot of aggessive cornering and putting it through it's paces and I can't notice the difference with or w/o it. I have a vert which has an X brace and full length subframe connectors if that matters.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but can anyone recommend a good CHROME strut tower brace for an aftermarket intake? I won't be able to use my stocker after I swith over to the Cobra.

bbk has one for $170, Mac has one for $150, and kenny brown has one $$$ tho ready $380 don't think it worth that much. If I was going to use a chrome one I would go BBK.

RC-How is the fit/finish on that Mac unit? Would you buy one again? How did everything line up? Did it come w/new bolts? Thanks
I had to take the Dremel and bore out 2 of the holes a little to fit. I have the front hole on the left side vacant, because I could not get the bolts to line up.HoofnIt said:RC-How is the fit/finish on that Mac unit? Would you buy one again? The back ones and the strut top holes are all on.
I took a washer, and a chrome bolt cap and glued it on to the STB where I couldnt put a bolt, so it looks like a bolt is there and there is no vacant hole showing

I took my stocker off when I swapped intakes and didn't *really* notice a difference. I put on the Maximum Motorsports STB and the car felt better. The night before installing it I took it through some big curves and then did the same after putting it on. I noticed a slight difference.

So if these things don't make such a huge difference then why did the aftermarket and eventually ford (in 94') obsess about these things?
They obsessed?87'GTstang said:So if these things don't make such a huge difference then why did the aftermarket and eventually ford (in 94') obsess about these things?

I'm referring to the aftermarket being flooded with them and Ford obviously seeing a problem and went through the R&D stage to what, put a useless item on the SN95's?

Id be careful
Id be careful when removing it if you have a low numbered 94. The first few cars that rolled off the assembly line had a defect in a flex joint on the heater case around the fire wall. I had mine off (as well as my k-member brace was lose, which didnt help) and it cracked the lower heater case where it connects to the fire wall because the engine flexed the body. Now I get floods on the passenger side everytime I turn on the A/c. When I was searching for a new heater case I ran acrossed two different part numbers for the same year. Ford told me that they changed the part early in the year to prevent the cracking of the case when you really romp on the throttle, it only happens on some but if something else is lose you'll probably be unlucky.

I dont think they are useless. I could feel a slight difference in cornering w/o it, but that doesnt mean it isnt helping. And as mentioned above, it saved an engine block.
Plus, it looks good!
