I'll be slipping and sliding around. Hoping the traction control will help me out since this is my first rwd vehicle.

Hey, you haven't lived until you drove a Mustang GT with 4.10 gears and damn near bald BFG Drag Radials, no traction control, and a 5-speed (because you have no choice due to the fact that you sold your good tires in order to help pay for the drag radial you so loved in the spring and summer months!) But before that I drove it through 2 winters (minus the drag radials) with no problems. Just always keep in mind what you are driving, a Mustang not a 4x4 Jeep. Just keep your foot outta the gas and AVOID racing at all costs!! But drifting and doing donuts in abandoned parking lots is okay.

I traded my '96 Grand Cherokee in on the 2004 Mustang, so I'll be driving it some this winter. I'm retired, so if I don't have to go out in the snow, I won't. And my wife has an '03 Taurus if we need to travel. One word of caution though...no matter how carefully you drive, you are always at the mercy of the OTHER drivers.

I am looking at at 3 cyl geo metro. $11 in gas 500 miles. I has 39000 origional miles and it is a 92. All this for 900 bucks

All 'Stangs to Bed

Just drove my Cobra for the last time yesterday. Took the insurance off of all three and now they are under cover in the garage. Driving in the snowbelt of Ohio sucks for rearwheel drive. Had to drive my 94 GT convertible in 40" of snow when I first got it. Swore that would NEVER happen again.

Driving my PT Cruiser til spring!

I just shopped around all year looking for a cheap beater...all I'll use it for is the commute to and from work, I picked up a hyndaui excel for $200 other than a tire balance and low fuel light that stays on and burning a tad bit of oil it's a nice little car that get's over 33mpg...

just shop around online on some local forums there's all kinds of steals out there that will get you through the winter at the very minimum

I just bought my winter beater yestarday. It is a Geo Metro. It has a 3 cyl in it. I can't wait for the gas savings. Can we say mod money

well fellas i got lucky, i decided to recessitate this old van we had sitting in the backyard for a couple years and am currently driving it while the pony rests on jackstands. its an 89 gmc 2500 conversion van, and surprisingly it gets a lil better gas mileage than the stang. all it needed was a trans rebuild, alternator, battery, and starter. dont get me wrong its not ur average beater, weighing 7000+ pounds easy, with a tbi 350, and rwd, but at least i dont gotta worry about anything happening to the stang, so thats a blessing. good luck 2 all u guys who r gonna have to deal this winter, hope u all stay accident free, and outa trouble so i can bust dat azz when the weather breaks, j/k...sike .

If you have to drive the Stang this winter please buy chains or snow tires. That last snow fall here in KC(The one that dumped 8" instead of 2" like the weather people said) I was moving the car so I could drive my truck. I had one hell of a time with it. The traction control didn't help. You need the tires to spin some so the car will move. When the tractiom light came on, the car wanted to stall out. I turned the traction control off and was able to move the car. Be careful with chains. They can scratch your wheels. I suggest buying some rims from a junk yard and using those this winter. I have a beater to drive to work and around town...93 cavalier w 60k miles
But if I'm goin out at nite I'll still drive the stang if there's no snow on the ground...

I will drive mine in the winter this year, just like every other winter.

Last winter I rolled around on Drag Radial because it was too cold.

But it's all good.

I'll be drivin my 2.3 N/A all winter long... it looks meaner then hell, but I don't think it'll even be able to spin the tires in the snow. haha

My GT will be sittin pretty in the garage untill all the damned salt gets lifted.
