My buddy is looking to get a GT covertible. I'm steering him towards at least a '99 because they're so much better than '96 to '98. Although, he found a '97 Dream Cruiser Convertible GT. The miles are really low and the price is pretty low too. I've seen these cars before and know they're white with racing stripes and borla side exhaust. I can't find any stats on the cars. Does anyone know what they did to the car performance wise? I here they were made in the Livonia Ford plant. Also, how much horsepower and torque did they make?

He met some guy at his work that had one that told him that it came with all kinds of stuff from the factory and that it was probably making 280 horsepower and would probably keep up with my '98 Cobra. I was a little skeptical. Any truth to this claim of 280 horsepower from a car that was born with 215 horsepower stock? (Also they were not supercharged or anything serious, it would be only minor bolt-ons). It doesn't seem like Ford would have done much more than stripes and exhaust for a special edition car like this. Anybody know anything?

i highly doubt that is a factory Mustang. that's probably a dealer tuned car. the only company that i know of that put side exhausts on a Mustang back then is Roush. if it's not a Roush Mustang, it's just another GT hopped up by someone else.

Thanks for the reply DBMSTNG. It's not a Roush, that's for sure. My friend found a website that said there were only 58 made and that they were a special edition to commemorate the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan. I still think my buddy would probably be better off with a '99 - up GT. But if anyone else out there knows something about their stats let me know. Thanks.

Never even heard of them.

I've only heard of PT cruisers coming in "Dream Cruiser" form

It was a very limited edition. Details on the Woodward Dream Cruise Mustang can be found here.

id say go with the 99+up. being that the dream cruiser is a limited edition, that kinda limits the mods that can be made to it in order to keep its "specialness". I have a LE 99 and sometimes I wish it wasnt limited so i could do some body mods to it (ie. hood, rear spoiler, etc.). Even swapping engines to a 4v or something larger takes much more serious considerations now. Just something he should think about.
