Anybody know the K rating on '08 HIDs?

My '08 GT came with the HID option but the factory leaves the driving lights regular so they don't match when running all 4 lights. Looks like crap together.

Does anybody have an idea if the HID headlights are 6000k, 8000K, etc.? Can i look on the ballast or bulbs to find it? I thought of buying a conversion kit for the insides.

I found this kit for $220 and it says their kit for the centers have an H10 bulb and is 8000K. Then is it a good guess that the outsides are 8000k?

Not sure, but I thought I read once that OE HIDs are usually 4300K. 8000K is going to be quite blue. You might get closer to your headlight color with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. This would be a lot easier and cheaper than going to HIDs in your fogs.

They aren't as blue as 350Z HIDs which are 6000k, so I will go out on a limb and say your OEMs are 5000k. I wouldn't go any higher than 6000k if you want to see anything at night. I've had 8000k's before and they sucked.

yea goldenpony i thought of just finding a regular bulb that would match the color of the outer's instead of HID conversion. Thanks for the tip.

It won't be a perfect match, but I'll bet it is closer than the std. halogen bulb.

every factory OEM HID is 4300k wether it's BMW, Chevy, or Nissan

it's law that it has to be 4300k - ur 350Z or whom ever's may look different @ certain angles which bring out more colors of the spectrum. If you really think a car manufacturer is gunna put blue 6000k HID bulbs in the housings right off the assembly line, you don't know wtf ur talking about.

You didn't have to be an ass to prove your point, but you're almost right. It looks like it's 4100k. I went to yahoo and punched in "kelvin limit oem hid" and got this website.

HID EXPERT

Where it says:

"Who is OE manufacturer of HID bulbs?

Philips and Osram are the ones widely used in cars in North America/Europe. (GE is still trying to get their feet into car manufacturers’ budget.) They come with standard 4100K color temperature only. This is the only legal HID bulb color temperature under DOT/ECE regulations. Many projector headlights in upscale vehicles may look like they have higher Kelvin rating, but that is an optical effect."

my last post was directed towards V_Eight - when you post "you're wrong" and I know for a fact that he doesn't know wat the h*ll he's talking about, then I get a lil peeved. Again, blue lights look kool, but thats about it. I like the blue hue as well, but the highest K i'd go would be 5000k if I could get it - but now a days it's either 4300 or 6000.
