I could look it up in my chiltons but they changed slightly through the years. 87 and some 88's being the most aggressive. 89+ less lope with the MAF but I think they still have variances
85-88 - 266/266 int/exh (at .006), .278" lift (.444" w/1.6's), IO - 17, IC 69, EO 67, EC 19; Lobe center int/exh - 115
89-95 - 276/266 int/exh (at .006), .278" lift (.444" w/1.6's), IO - 20, IC 76, EO 67, EC 19; Lobe center int - 116, exh - 115
Ford doesn't list .050" timing events, so duration numbers aren't available, but they vary all over the place based on folks' measurements out there (I guess Quality wasn't Job 1). Generally, they are around 210 or 212 on intake and exhaust. But I've seen numbers like 219/212 on the early cams. The later cam has more advertised intake duration because Ford slowed up the ramp rate to quiet intake noise. Consequently, according to Ford's footnotes, the early cam with less advertised intake duration is the more powerful cam making 3HP more than the later cam.
ok , then let me ask this , would a cam with a 214 duration at .050 , 282 duration , with a lift of 512 work in a stock speed density car and would it idle at all ???? Or would you be better off if you had access to get a custom ground cam really cheap to get one with stock spec duration with about a 472 to 488 lift ??
Can't help you - I'd change the title of the post and try to get the speed density gurus in to give you guidance. My GUESS is that the cam you've described wouldn't throw the speed density system too far out of whack. What they don't like at all is cams that really hurt vacuum at idle.
Of course, converting to mass air gives you much more flexibility in terms of components.
**OH YEA,I agree I have a Bassani cat back,and 410's.I live in the country rite know,so the car is set up nice for these back roads,and the bassani exhaust sounds "SWEET",I also have a stock cam!!
