Anybody running a 347 with AFR165's?

You thinkin of changing that combo already Dave??? You just got it together last year :)

I think you need to take it to the track with some sticky tires and get it to really show its potential...I'm sure with the right air, launch, tuning, etc...that car has mid 12's @ 110mph written all over it.

If I recall correctly...those were his "new" dyno numbers. When he first got the combo running it put down something like 305rwhp...which could equate to the earlier statement about mid 12's @ 110mph properly driven...yada, yada, yada.

I don't know what happened to the car and why it's now making less power...but there are plenty of fox cars with the AFR/FTI/Edel combo's going low 12's and even high 11's at anywhere from 109mph-115mph. I'm sure an SN95 could be just a hair off those with proper tuning etc...

Ed said no though Killercanary?

No, he just told me for the combo I wanted to run and the numbers I wanted out of it, it would be better for me to sell the combo I have and start over with 185's.

Dave, something is wrong with your combo, but hang in there, you'll figure it out. Like I said before, I'd try ditching that cobra setup in your tweecer. The stock timing table aren't hurting me...

Dave, I just watched your dyno video and man there was all sorts of stuff coming out your exhaust. Are you running pig rich, or do you have an oil burning issue? That is something I'd definitely look at. For as much blowby as I have, I've never seen smoke come from my tail pipes.

I see.

Its funny, I dont even know Ed Curtis except from all the stuff I ve read on Stangnet, but it appears he is the man. It also appears that I am becoming addicted to Stangnet.

It's not that much, really -- maybe just the way the camera picked it up. The exhaust was almost clear for most of it, with a couple of distinct puffs of black smoke as the EEC changed the tuning (saw this same effect on most of the other cars there, it seems normal), and a bit of blue smoke when the dyno operator came off the throttle (again normal, that's the huge vacuum pulling crankcase vapors through the PCV). Compared to a bone stock LS1 (Camaro SS) my car was clean :D (but the LS1 put down almost 30 more rwhp and 15 more rwtq). I saw several '03 Cobras blowing a bit of blue smoke *during* the dyno run while at WOT (all modified, though, higher than normal boost) ... at least I didn't get any of that on mine.

The A/F curve actually looks slightly lean, according to the meter they had on the dyno. After I make some changes to the engine, I will need to buy some dyno time to try and dial the A/F ratio in ... probably 12.75 or so would be good.

As for the 347, I'm not making plans right this instant, but I've had this discussion before and that's why I was curious as to whether anyone had tried it. I'm positive the 165's aren't optimal, but people have been running heads with much less ability than AFR165's on stroked 302's and 351's for a long time. So it wouldn't seem to me that it would be *that* bad.

You've got a nice combo there, but why only 6lbs of IC boost?

I got the 9 psi kit before my new setup, and with the new h/c/i I am only seeing six or seven psi... I can't get a good boost reading because my tires spin like a mofo, and the boost needle goes nuts. But with a slight loss of total pressure through the intercooler and the new goodies, 6 psi seems about right.

BTW I still have the stock "waffle" 16's , so no more boost until I get new treads. :D
