i went to the dyno a while back and was really happy with the hp numbers i put out for the mods i had but the torque seemed low. after some researching i found out about locking the TC via a switch for more accurate dyno numbers.

after some reading through the web i read gains of around 15hp doing this. i'm a little confused at when lockup is actually used on our cars and when you should use it so i decided to make this post.

who has done it?

when do you use it?

any other info would be great

i'm thinking about rigging up a switch and an LED so i can tell when the TC is locking up no matter what position the switch is in. i read a guide on this on another site

thanks

The guys on TCCoA have done it, but I never looked into it. That might be where you read about it though. :)

I don't have any experience with electronic lockup on Ford trannies -- but it used to be (probably still is) something that all the GN guys did. From what I understand, it causes a lot of stress on components and probably should only be used when you're going all out in a race.

But again -- I don't know much about auto trannies, so it could be completely opposite of what I remember.
