Annoying backfire when stopping?

I just installed a densecharger and c&l 80mm maf and when I am slowing down I get these nasty backfires. I reset my computer and tried to move the maf but I can still hear it? What could it be? Any help would be appreciated.

Actual backfire, like a gunshot sound or just the popping or backrapping of your exhaust? If you have an actual backfire you could have you timing off.

It sounds more like popping when the car is decelerating to be exact. It has done it before when I ported my stock maf but went away. This problem is persistent especiallywhen I am going downhill.

I get this popping sound since I got the Flowmasters on.
I have a DenseCharger, too.

I think the popping is due to a lean condition. I am not positive though. Is it possible that you have a bad (or disconnected) sensor somewhere?

I am going to check. I checked the sensors yesterday and noticed nothing. Is there anything to change the lean condition.

A shop can tune it to adjust for the lean condition. Have you had the code read yet? If not get it checked to see what code is being thrown. I get the popping too on my car but I haven't really modded anything other than the CAI and pullies. I had a lean code at one time but it went away. Not sure why.

if you have a turn before the maf, try clocking the maf, toward the fender seems to be lean, toward valve/cam cover seems to be rich.

this is only based on feedback from some research I did, they call it the "dark wolf mod", I have no idea why, and it only woks if theres a bend right before the maf

most seem to go towards the fender, but I noticed the WMS cai has it toward the cover, but then the 03/04 cobras are clocked toward the fender, but I beleive thats to compensate for the next turn

your x pipe will also give you some reversion on decel, basically the reversion and rich condition together make it a popcorn maker, try clocking that maf if you can, it may learn over next 400miles or so also

hey maybe you can help my curiosity, I'm also running ported maf currently, just curious if you compared the size of the sample tube between the c&l and ported stocker?(the little tube on top that the toaster wire is in, the sample tube(Iexplain cause someone else told me 85mm,lol))

oh yeah, if ya want to keep the maf and ditch the popcorn maker, ditch the X, thats whats doing it, a prochmaber will clear that right up, the inlet tubes go about 3" into the box, thats why theres no reversion, they actually point toward the center and hit th the center in the same spot, they pressurize the box and then both cylinders see both mufflers/tailpipes, this helps torque, quiets it down one notch, but deeper. An X will make less torque and morehp on the right motor, but I think it have to be like 400hp+at over 6500rpm to see the difference(our motors are basically 5250 torque monsters anyway)

I only have the densecharger hooked up directly to the maf and after the maf a k&n filter. No bends. I need to get the codes read to see what they are saying. Thanks for the info.

Are you downshifting to slow down? My car does this as well, but it's an auto... I never thought it to be a big deal, just use the brakes.

Sometimes I do downshift and sometimes I just slow down naturally. The crackling gets really bad when I am in a gear an slow down abrubtly.

You mean the densecharger? If so I installed the maf and the densecharger at the same time. It sounds louder and the my car feels stronger.
