Anyone done this-Aftermarket Fuel guage w?factory sending unit???

Guys,

i have been having many, many prob's with the factory fuel gauge. And instead of wasting mucho time troubleshooting this crap, anti-slosh **** replacement,and spending hours in the archives- I just want to add an aftermarket Fuel gauge (autometer) to the factory sending unit.

Has anyone done this, and If so-Can you please elaborate for me....

I did the same thing to mine, I installed a autometer phantom guage. I also use the stock sending unit. i just tapped to the signal wire from the sending unit to behind the cluster. The only thing is that without the slosh module you see the guage moving back and forth when stop, turn and go. Atleast i can tell how much gas is left. hope this helps

Let me see if i can find it, yes i got the wire right behind the cluster. Right before it goes inot the cluster. It was a while ago so ill let you know asap

ok the wire color is y/w - yellow with a white tracer, here is a schematic http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/images/mustang89fuelSender.gif hope this helps
