anyone Drifting a mustang ?

I dunno why so many here have a problem with drifting. It obviously takes some work done to the car and some skill on the part of the driver to be done well. I applaud that someone decided to take on the sport with a vehicle that doesnt sound like its exhaust is traveling through a 2 ft long kazoo!

The paint job, looks good, flat black is old school muscle car...just would pain me to paint over a expensive paint job with a cheap one...no going back.

As for drifting, everyone always saying its an import thing.....maybe its an import thing because all the domestic muscle car guys just sit around and complain about it rather than getting into it to compete and whoop some ass. Ya don't see the import guys sitting around bitchin' about drag racing, nope, they're building quick ass civic hatchbacks that'll whoop butt. So what's the deal? Is drifting stupid cuz its an import thing or is drifting stupid because it involves sliding around a track with two wheels in control. Don't see anything wrong with that.

I would drift if tires weren't so expensive... drifting is the rich man's (or more commonly boy's) sport.

That being said imo i think drifting is incredibly dumb and the fad will die out in 5 years or so, yes its been around in japan for years but look what goes on in Japan. I have friends who drift and they're the most immature people i've ever met.

Maybe if involves another mustang putting a smile on someone's face we should just let it ride. Each unto their own ......

um, yes.... i took my old 89 5.0 in a couple years back in early winter for heater core work and buddy mechanic took my keys and as i sat down i see my stang slidding around parking lot in ice thin layer of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was pissed but thinking " damn my car can drift..... sweet!

i know what your saying. its like the whole fast and furious fad where kids go buy hondas and try and be cool. i know people who did that and are into the drifting thing but really dont know how to handle the car. but i dont think its dumb and will fade out.

i have been doing that for years! ....just been on a dirt track here in my home town, with a street stock oldsmobile ......drifting...pfffff..thats "dirt tracking it" son....

i woulda killed for a sonic blue GT.. closest one was oklahoma and they wanted 600 over MSRP for it... sorry, for 21 OTD i'll take my silver.. but wish i had sonic...

i do agree that there is a massive hatred on drifting because its an import start. final answer, most of the D1 (pro international circuit) drift ring are 40-50 year old guys. the hubinette (sp) viper, team konig's steeda build 05 GT, the GTO with the aussie driver, the dodge charger that entered this year, and i have heard rumors of a new z06 being setup for it.... and guess what... american muscle is putting almost all the imports to shame. yes kids, american cars are taking over the "*** spec, ricer ass, worthless no-skill, import king, boy-racer, gonna die soon, homo-sport". sure there are a lot of kids that play the roll poorly and damn near kill themselves faking the drift thing..... thats a casualty of popularity. ever hear of people wrecking and getting killed/killing others in a drag race? **** happens.

anyhow.... the GT is easily setup for drifting either some solid power (300 or so to the wheels) or around 270 with some 4:10 gears and you have the abilty to put the back end where its needed. then either the steeda 5 link (not my personal choice) or a panhard rod (or watts) with a 3 link (torque arm or trilink) will set the rear end to be masterfully places and moved around the track. dont worry about most of these guys as most of them cant wrap their mind around the sport (and remove the fad aspect) let alone put themselves into a position of gearing the GT to compete.
