Anyone else have quality problems with FRPP ceramic headers?

I thought about that, but the damage to the box didn't seem to track with the damage on the headers. The gouges I took pictures of were on the inside part of the headers, and there is no way that could have been done by the box damage. It's the same deal with the nameplate..it seems all do that, and it doesn't seem like that would be caused by the box damage. There was one small scuff that was probably from the box, but it's about the size of a pen's ball point.

Like I said, getting a new set fast is important to me. I can ship out DHL overnight free from work, so they will have them back by Tuesday. I'm thinking any pickup would be UPS ground, and possibly delay the time I get the new ones until next week.

Oh, also, BTW, I am returning those 1" long ARP bolts and I ordered the correct 3/4" long ones from Jeg's...
 
"Damage claim" - whether it's due to a shipping issue, or a problem with the unit when they put it in the box - I assume you've called Summit already. They usually require that you arrange some kind of return authorization code before you ship stuff back. And part of that process involves, usually, them arranging/paying for the return shipment on THEIR carrier of choice.

If you just ship using your own shipper (particularly without their written permission) you risk them claiming that YOUR shipper damaged the headers on the return shipment, or your shipper ACTUALLY damaging the headers on the return shipment.....something to think about.

Don't let getting in a hurry make a bad situation worse. Also, if you want to solve that tacked on name plate issue, the ONLY way is to replace these with a pair of non-coated, stainless headers. Then remove the plate yourself, grind/file down the weld marks, and then send it out for coating. That approach will also allow you to grind down/smooth out all the welds inside the ports, and around the flanges/ball socket BEFORE they are coated. That's the only approach that will get coating over the entire headers. Otherwise the area under that name tag goes uncoated - no way around it.
 
Thanks Michael. I have called Summit, and they actually don't require an RMA, but I called anyway. They have a seperate piece of the invoice that comes off with a RMA form and instructions. I did call them back since they told me to send them UPS ground and they would reimburse me, but not for overnight. I explained that I realized that, and I was fine with it.

Thanks for the heads up though. I know what you mean about RMA authorizations...dealt with a lot of those with my computer building/repair business, but I appreciate the advice anyway.

BTW, IIRC, one of the shows I used to go to around here had a guy that had a Volvo with a '90GT motor dropped in...you have anything to do with that? ;)
