Anyone ever change the rod inside the door?

My door lock doesn't work on my 86GT because the rod connecting the inner handle, lock mechanism, and then to the lock cylinder is bent or disconnected. Anyone ever change this? EAsy? I won't park this without being able to lock the door.

there are a few little clips holding the rod in place, but the hardest part is the working by feel for 80% of it
