Yeah well I got the itch after going to the track last night and running a 13.0@106 with a 1.8 60 ft.

Its not bad for a stock TB, ignition, MAF, and injector car, I think I can do 12's just need some more practice. I was gonna save for a turbo kit but I think its better that I get my all motor setup sorted out before I go ahead and bolt a power adder on. So yeah Im gonna go through and do all the bolt ons since I have none as far as motor goes besides the hci lol.

Anyways has anyone ever noticed a diff going to LTs from shorties? Im thinkin about switching over and Im just curious if anyone has actually seen some real gains, otherwise Im not going to bother.

I have had Long Tubes and Shorty headers on the same car. Currently run Shorty headers. I have a race prep 331 stroker motor that turns 7 grand all day long and that's where the difference was in my car. With the shorty headers, I picked up bottom end and in the 2-3k RPM range. The car falls on it's face at the 5.5-6.5K rpm range. For the driving I do, I rather have the low end power. The long tubes deffinatley sounded good and makes a difference in the exhaust note. I think you would not see much difference on a basic motor with basic bolt ons with the long tubes.

You only went 13.0!!! Im almost running that on stock heads but with alot of boltons, my combo is like the exact oppostite of yours lol. Your mph is good though. I wouldnt bother with the LTs. Start upgrading some of the other stock pieces under the hood.

You know my stand, but remember how big of a PITA Long Tubes are. In my eyes if you want to squeeze everything out of it, get them. There are lots of fast shorty cars, but a long tube will help some!

Hmm a 13.4 is not almost 13.0s in my eyes, its almost half a second slower, just quick math (not only that but a missed gear and Aliate would still run quicker than 13.4 (heheh :P))! I was telling Aliate I went 13.0s on a bolt on car also, but nowhere near 106 mph, and he also has a lot of supporting mods left, and a tune! All that done hello mid 12s, :D

How does the Track heat h/c/i kit run with stock maf and 19lbrs? I might be on the same boat as you while i save money for a pro-m, 24's, and tb. and btw have u passed emission with that set-up?

I switched from 1 5/8 shortie headers to 1 3/4 BBK long tubes. i feel that i gained more TQ and top end with the long tubes. perhaps the shorties were too small primary wise for my setup too though!

Sorry I never clarified. Thats a pretty old number, I have changed and added lots since then, except heads

Running rich on a stock MAFS and 19lbs with that upper kit? I wouldn't have expected that. How do you know you are running rich, just by the smell or did you dyno it with a WBo2? Just curious.

Also, are you running out of gear as you go through the traps? You have 4.1 gears, and with a 1.8 60ft, I assume you are running slicks. How tall are they?

I had old rusty Mac 1 5/8 shorties with one part of the H-pipe smashed nearly 50%.

I then added new BBK longtubes, matching H pipe (not dented:)), brand new 306 bottomend, performer intake port matched to AFR 165's. Same timing, fuel pressure.

I gained a total of 1.3mph.

I do not attribute the majority of those gains to the longtubes.

They do sound better though.
