I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the plug that goes into the top of my alternator (stator I believe?) was in bad shape and that shaking the wires produced a spark show  So I ordered a replacement plug from 5.0 resto and soldered it on last weekend. Problem is the upper radiator hose seems to be laying on it and melting it! It looks as though I have enough clearance with the hood open. But I think the hood is pushing it down just enough to touch and it has already melted a small spot in the corner of the new plug. Ideas??

You could put some mylar, etc sheathing over the wires (stuff that goes over plug wires to keep them from burning), but that would be easier to do if you have to replace the wiring and have a wiring end open.

I cant help think that something funny is up (either with yours or mine) because my upper radiator hose was not really close to either plug at the alternator (when I had the 2G).

Sorry to not be helpful J. Good luck.
