Anyone ever painted their mustang 04 Mystichrome paint??

Been thinking of repainting my black 99 cobra i the 04 mystichrome paint. Has anyone repainted their cars with this paint and have any pics to show??

have you been wanting to this for a while? good luck getting the paint, and expect to pay a crap load for a good job. get me some while your at it. good luck!

Never done it, but I heard that DuPont's patent expired so you can now get that paint for about 40% of the oringal price.

I was thinking of doing something like flames in mystichrome on my black 99.
That's for another year......

BASF was in charge of the 96 mystic paint. You couldn't get that paint unless you had a 96 Mystic Cobra. A representitive from BASF would come out and bring you the paint and watch you paint the car, then they made you clean your gun and they took all tape paper and anything else that had the overspray on it. They don't want anybody do duplicate that exact paint. You can buy some that is close but not exact. I don't know if the 04 Mystichrome paint is the same way or not. If you have a 96 Mystic Cobra if you get a scratch the only thing you can touch it up with is black, because that is the only true pigment in the paint.

its g unan run u like 10k to ge tit painted with mystic chrome i knwo a guy with a 94 gt on here ran him close tot heat and i have heard from peopel that the tresurey dept has to come out and watch then paint it and then pur the rest out cus its the same coo used in the new bills

Order the paint from Canada or overseas. not cheap, but can be done.
Then you need a painter that won't care if he gets caught.

Damn, I was thinking of painting my black 01 Cobra with it.
My old neighbor used to work for Maaco and did a couple of his cars with something similiar. He now works for a Ford dealer so I'll ask if he knows about getting the paint.

A buddy of mine who works at Auto Allaince, who also use to work at the Rouge assemebly plant told me that at the end of the '04 run of Cobras, Ford dumped pallets with GALLONS of Mystichrome in the dumpsters when they were getting ready to move over to Flat Rock.
