Specifically that kit.

$250 to get rear 13" brakes sounds like a good deal. Add to that $399 for a 13" front setup and you have front/rear 13" brakes for $650. Might look good inside some 18" bullitts.

I don't think so. It is a baer brand rotor, but i am more concerned now with matching with solid fronts.

Hmm, that would mean i would need to get a new set of front rotors to match the rears.

Do they make a solid rear?

They're unnecessary, but if you're interested in looks, go for it.

5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords Mag (page 154) did an install (on their project 3g GT) and write up on these in the Sept 2004 issue. RPMOutlet has the rears for $230 and the front (with Baer Calipers) for $470. So, for $700, you can have a nice setup, F & R. They are on my wishlist.

Really? Have you ever got on the brakes at high speed? These SN95s are heavy and under-braked. The upgrade is sorely needed. Fortunately Ford made them upgrade-friendly. I could care less how they look and really downplay (and hate) any bling-bling. This is all about performance.

Well, $250 to fill up a pretty much empty rear wheel isn't that bad to me. I'm planning on 18" bullitts or Saleens and want to fill that space.

I'm sure i would get some braking benefit from them.

I might rob the 13" fronts off my '88 and put my GT PBR's on there.

With 13.5" Wilwood fronts the Baer 11.5" rear are wonderfully adequate. Slowing from 150 to make the 50 mph turn 3 at Fontana, there were no signs of being underbraked. In fact, 13" rear rotors probably would have made the car tail happy.

If it's all about performance, move up to a Cobra rear rotor. The Baer is still a SOLID rotor. It may be 13", but it's not vented. At best you're getting a little more metal to dissipate the heat. I'd rather have an 11.65" Cobra rotor with real vanes (not cross-drilled nonsense) to cool down, seeing as how they both have the same swept area for the pads.

These rotors are more about making the rear rotor not look miniscule in an 18" wheel. If that's what you're going for, they're a great product, and definitely look a lot better. Just don't expect much in the way of better braking. If you're really pushing the rears to the point of needing significantly better brakes (and better pads/Brembo rotors hasn't solved the problem), you need to look elsewhere for your solution.

I agree with that, 13" is overkill on the rears. The cobra brakes is all one should need.

You guys need to do your homework before commenting about a product you really don't know about.

First - The Baer Eradispeed +1 rear setup is a larger disc (13.25" to be exact), but by using the stock calipers, it's not as if they are 'true' 13.25" brakes, but they do give the look, while also giving you more braking surface (per rotation). So, you get the look of the big brakes (that match the front) with better braking. What is wrong with this?

Secondly - The rear and front discs are slotted, drilled and vented. Go to www.eradispeed.com or see the pics below.

Third - Who is really pushing the limits of their rear brakes on the street? These are not intended for racing duty. Nobody in their right mind would expect these to live up to racing conditions.

I just looked at the link he sent...if you look there, those rotors are obviously NOT vented. They ARE cross-drilled and slotted, but venting will get you much better performance than either of those, and won't lead to a cracked rotor under track use, like cross-drilling.

Third - Who is really pushing the limits of their rear brakes on the street? These are not intended for racing duty. Nobody in their right mind would expect these to live up to racing conditions.

You'd be surprised what people expect things to do. I was just trying to make it clear that these don't look like a very good track rotor.

Don't get me wrong, I think these would LOOK great. But I don't think they'll help your overall braking noticeably. Sure they're 13", but look at the picture again, it's all in the hat. Compare them to the Eradispeed rotors that tgts4us posted, notice how the hat there would only cover the spindle? Look at the 13" rears again, that hat is huge.

And I still say that if they do work so great, they will make the back end of the car try to pass the front under heavy braking.

Come now Cosmo, being the racer type, you must know about and be using a proportioning valve, right?
Plus, you must also know that the newer GT has anti-lock brakes.
Mrcorpse, I'm not sure what you read or saw at www.eradispeed.com, but any and all of the eradispeed line are slotted, drilled and vented - the eradispeed, eradispeed + and eradispeed +1 (the latter having true curved vanes, whereas the eradispeed and eradispeed + have "kangaroo" port design venting.) The ones I was referring to were the "+1" design with curved vane venting. These are available for $230 a pair at RPMOutlet.
I didn't think we were talking about racing brakes here anyway, so why you said, "I was just trying to make it clear that these don't look like a very good track rotor" makes me say, 'Huh?'
I am continously amazed at the diversity of the people and posts here on Stangnet. We have posts here in Tech about which electric shaver is best to then talking about road racing, autox, drags, etc. I guess I've got to know the audience better.
Mustang5L5, are you looking for street brakes or racing brakes? I'll go out on a limb here and bet he's looking for street brakes.

Could someone please post the caliper piston diameters for
the various Ford and aftermarket brakes being discussed.
I need to know the numbers.

I have eradispeed rear brake rotors. They are not vented. They make noise@
speed and application. Baer brake tech
said that is just they way it is. Anybody
have the same problem?

I tend to agree. They sound like overkill for a stock weight GT. They'd work well on a 4,000lb (with me in it) car like mine though. And should tuck behind my 18x9 FR500 wheels nicely
