Anyone have experience with BBK ceramic long tubes?

I am thinking about getting a set of these:

1994-95 Mustang 5.0L 1-5/8'' Ceramic Coated Headers, Manual Trans Only

How is the Ceramic Coating from bbk? Should i just stick with the chrome finish? Is there a big difference? What does the Ceramic finish actually look like?

no experience but ceramic is probably a better option because it won't change colors... i'm sure jr (94sc50) would have a better explanation as he has one of em- u could check out his site to see what hes running jrfuller.com

theyre not as shiny as crome but they look great and stay that way and dont change colors like crome. they fit well and the only thing is dont use the gasket that comes with them and you might want to clean up the flange welds. also looks like yours is lowered a little bit so your gonna have to go really slow over speed bumps. as for preformance, you'll deffinatly notice a lot more pull in the upper RPMs and a lil more torque down low

Yea, they do need a little dremel work around the flange welds, I went with some copper gaskets, I heard you may need a new dipstick or just bend the stock one.

i didnt have any problems getting the stock dipstick to work. bent it some and got lucky and it went right in.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Im not sure where you are talking about on the flange but i guess i will wait and see. Is it on the outside or inside of the headers?

And yea i am lowered, not a whole lot, but it is definately lower. I figured i would have to watch out...

Mine have some miles on them. The coating is nice but in some area's you can see some slight surface rust in between the tubes. I bought mine used a year and a 1/2 ago. I got a killer deal on them, their too expensive brand new. $300 shipped with the H pipe sounded better

Get the ceramic. I can put my hand on them after running the car after about 15 minutes of sitting! They don't stay THAT shiny after some use but they still look great. I'm sure I could shine them up if I cared. Its definitely worth the extra $$ IMHO.

I'd recommend the ceramics, I just dont like their price. I got lucky and found mine dirt cheap like I said.

Save your money...don't get the ceramic coating on the BBK.

I know I'm going against the trend here, but I was in your exact same shoes a year ago and did a lot of research. I spend the extra $100+ on the CC finish and coudln't of been happier when I received them. So nice and shiny, pretty good quality, etc...

Fast forward 8 months and all that shine is gone...they are dull...even some rust spots in a few places, and this is in the engine on the primaries...I'm not even talking about underneath the car!!!

Before you say it too...this car is garaged every single night in a very well insulated garage. It does not go out in the winter and only sees rain once in a great while.

I cannot say why mine have turned so quickly, but they did. I have heard others have too.

The ONLY reason I would say it was somewhat worth the extra cost is because they do keep the heat down...but in my mind, its not worth the extra money. You could wrap the heads and keep the engine cool with a nice radiator and put your air intake in a cool place.

If I had to do it over again, I would get cheaper longtubes and get them jet-hot coated the right way.
