I'm looking into getting Flowmaster Super 40's. I heard the sample and they're loud as heck. Right now, I have the original flows, in which it has lots of interior resonance. I happen to love interior resonance, and before I get Super 40's, I was wondering if any of you can tell me if you hear interior resonance with the Super 40's. The reason why I'm asking is because Super 40's are based on Delta Flow technology which decreases interior resonance, and that's actually something I don't want. For people with convertibles, can you hear your exhaust more with the top down?

I talked to the flomaster rep about a week ago, and he said that there is only about a 2-db decrease in sound between the original and super 40's, and about a 5 db sound decrease over the Delta 40's

hey, i just recently put on the american thunder catback from flowmaster which comes with super 40's..their's interior resonance but not alot..super40 was designed to quiet down the cabin while providing the same tone outside..to me its still too much interior resonance..i cant hold a conversation at 60mph..i have a 02 vert.

I have the A/T cat-back and the interior drone is minimal with the windows up and the radio on low.

With the radio on normal volume, i cannot hear my exhaust at all. In the winter time i found myself rolling down my window a bit just to hear my exhaust.

Now with both windows down in the summer there is some drone. Honestly...it's not enough. I find myself driving right in the drone range just to hear it. I think it sounds the best then.

Keep your original 40s. There isn't a huge difference to me between the two. My Supers are plenty loud outside and in. The originals are a tad louder but not by much. With my offroad pipe, everyone says my car is loud as hell from the outside.

Got a question. Right now I have the Flowmaster American Thunder catback, but on 96 the catback came with delta 40's not original. I want it to be a bit louder not like SLP Loudmouth loud but just a bit louder, should I go with 1 chamber flows or you think putting on super 40's would make it quite a bit louder?

Super 40s a only a tad louder than deltas. Not enough to warrant a change to them IMO.

So the order goes from loudest to quietest

Super 40's > Original 40's > Delta 40's correct? Also somebody was saying something about a 5 db difference between delta 40's and super 40's which sounds like it would be a noticable sound difference.

Originals -> Supers -> Deltas is the order by ear all with stock midpipes.

Supers are like a cross between origs and deltas. They are around the same loudness as the origs outside but only a little louder than the deltas inside as far as drone goes. I listened to a few setups before I finally decided on the Supers but would also be cool with the originals. No regrets here though.

I could care less about interior resonance, I love drone, so whatever drones the most is the best, and I want the loudest of the 3 so I'm guessing I should go with the originals then?

Nice well thanks for the info, 1 more question how do the originals compare to the MAC catback? Deepness, loudness, drone?

i've had macs and flows on my 98 gt. i think the macs are louder then the
2 chamber flows. however i have longtube headers and the headers make
the sound lower with either muffler. the flows have a more mellow tone
than the macs. the macs have more of a bad ass tone. i think they made
my car sound badder than it is. also made ricers jack with me at almost
every red light. so i installed flows. seems to help.

Mac flowpaths are louder but to me they aren't as smooth as flows. The macs sound nasty (in a great way). The flows are more musical and is the sound I wanted. Hooker aerochambers sound mean as hell too. I wish I had the ability to quick change muffs as I love all three of these muffs. But unfortunately I could only choose one so I went with the 2 chamber flows.

Thats what i wanted, so i went with an SLP modular system, up to 3 different sounds, and volumes, with one system, changeable in under 5 minutes.
