Anyone have a cheap CAI from ebay?

I was looking into getting one just to dress up the engine bay a little. I'm sick of the ugly homemade style. Anyway, does anyone know the quality of the stuff on ebay? I'm not expecting much for 40 bucks, but it would be nice to know. Pics of installed ones would be great too.

I have one and its worked fine. I scratched it to **** installing it because I'm an inpatient dumbass, but it looks alot better than the Densecharger I had. Donbt expect any instructions with it, so try to find some for a Mac or BBK CAI, since they are nearly identical.

edit: I just ordered a new digicam yesterday (old one broke) so I'll snap a few pics when I get it.

I bought the one from ProCarParts and it appears to be the same as a BBK. It was cheap, easy to install, and looks good.

So it fit alright then I'm assuming? Yeah, a pic or two would be helpful. I think I'm gonna make the big investment and just get one, it can't be worse that what i got

just for engine dress up an ebay one would be great.. not much power outa them.. or any cai really but it does look a lot nicer

I bought a Bomz CAI for a 94/95 off Ebay...Its pretty decent for the money...I bought it strictly for the tubing as I was in need of some to fab up my CAI for the 93 Cobra I used..
For the money the tubing was really nice, had a decent finish and shine to it...
It LOOKED to be ok though...Some guys have had issues with the IAT sensor fitting threads being chit to...
They did bone me though...sent me a wrong rubber connector....they never did come good on replacing it... Wankers....Get what you pay for I guess....ya got a 50/50 chance of it working?? I ended up selling it for 25.00 to a member....

For 15.00 or so you can do up one of these....Works just as good to...Couple Fernco fittings, 16" of PVC, some paint and have at it...beats the hell out of 100.00 plus for a Mac or BBK..Unless your into the Alum look..

The IAT was a tight ****en fit in the threads of mine, but with some help from the woman I got it in.

I could never get both screws/bolts to go in at the same time where it mounts on the bottom (near the fenderwell), but it is rock solid & doesnt move with only 1 bolt on.

Hooligan, I bought one for my GT, it looks identical to my friends BBK CAI except for the name plate. It has the same exact piping size, route, and everything. The filter looks pretty high quality too! I can't see it performing any less than what a BBK or Mac would but look at it this way. If you bought the ebay one for $60 shipped you can still buy a Mac Replacement filter for $30 to put on it and still have saved $70 or $80 towards something else you want to buy. I have my plain old crappy Home Made ABS plastic hardware store set up. I think it looks great to tell you the truth. It cost me all of $15.00 for the pipe and elbows....but $80.00 for the '9 Conical K&N filter.

Bought mine from SaberSport on ebay, $63 shipped. I did scratch it up pretty bad installing it because I didn't want to take the inner fenderwell lining out, but other than that it fits great! Here's a pic...I know my engine bay looks kinda crappy but that'll change soon

i got one and i love it. perfect fit. $50 shipped. i painted it black to match my car and it looks good. then i took the BBK sticker from my TB and put it on there and people ask "damn, thats the only black BBK CAI ive ever seen. Where did you find it?"

I bought one on Ebay, Scratched the crap out of it. And had to dremel out all the threads for the IAt so I could stick it in. Called them about it and wasted time talking to the saleslady who had no clue what I was talking about. Does free up some space in the engine compartment as well. I bought my kit from racing_guys was expecting to at least be able to fit the sensor in. Oh well it was cheaper than building one but it cost me over an hour to dremel out the boss so the IAT would fit.

I dont know why everyone has such a problem with the IAT. I just got a pair of channel locks to get a grip on it and muscled it in there.

Yeah, not with mine. You could probably do that... it would strip out all the threads on your plastic IAT sensor which would never screw into another intake tube. I chose to dremel out all the threads in the intake rather than ruining the IAT threads. Cheap ass intake tube versus an IAT sensor which Ford prolly charges and arm and a leg for. Hell it barely fits in now with no threads at all and boring the hole at least 1/16 wider. Maybe you all got better kits, I figured they were all the same supplier and would all be the same crap from china or taiwan.

Well I guess I should say that I used vice-grips now that I think about it. They were on tighter than a.......anyways, so it didnt strip the threads at all. I didnt have a table mounted vice, because if I did I could have used a socket and done it that way.

The threads of the IAT sensor inside, not the bolt type hex used to screw it in. I'm starting to think their are a lot of cross threaded IAT sensors out there. SHouldn't need vice grips or a vice if the thread pitch and diameters match up. Like they always say if you have to force it in somethings wrong. For me it was definately the wrong diameter boss for the IAT, may have been different for others.
