Anyone have the HID Headlights 87-93

Don't forget too that you can actually get ticked for using those....and that a well working stock headlamp setup will illuminate the road better than the plug and play HID setups.

I do not agree with that! a well working HID set up will kick the ***t out of a well working stock 87-93 head lamp.

And you run some liability if you use them.

If i'm driving down the road and someone with illegal HID's comes down the other side and blinds me, and I hit a pedestrian...the person with the HID's that blinded me could be held just as responsibe as I am.

There is a lot of shared responsibility on the road. If your actions cause a situation with another vehicle, then you are just as responsible.

Thats why you're supposed to use projector headlights with HID's. That will keep the light focused down on the ground. But hardly anyone gets them because they are so expensive...

That depends on what HID setup your talking about. You'll notice I referenced the cheap "plug and play" HID setups…and my statement still holds true. The stock setup is superior for illuminating the road and will give you a better field of view, as well as distance at night.

A projector must be used in order to get an adequate beam. Many people run into issues with aftermarket projector assemblies because they are quite often not adjustable….and were not properly engineered. The better setups I've seen involve people using some type of clear headlamp assembly and retro-fitting an OEM HID setup into it.

the cheap HID kits you find on ebay i wouldnt trust with being as bright an lasting long. but with a good kit like i have or the kits that american muscle sells, there way better then stock lights. as for being illegal...anything other than what came in your car from the factory is illegal. i know this cuz i have talked to several cops about my setup an they told me. never got a ticket for them but apparently they could give you one if they wanted to be a d***. the odds are slim. an i think most of us are not running cats either so why worry about lights bein illegal or not? no cats is way worse then bright lights when lookin at the fines. either way its not gonna stop us from making are cars faster or having brighter lights or somethin like that.

If you want a brighter stock set up then run a relay harness, I have a relay on my stock fog lights and they're brigher than my headlights, I could almost drive without my headlights if I wanted. Now I want to run relays on my headlights and aim them straight then I'll be set.

Running relays lets the power come directly from the battery, through the relay, and to the headlights. Opposed to battery, switch, then back to the headlights, while going through miles of old wiring. The relay is the 'switch' and the switch in the car is the trigger for the relay.

The set up in my fog lights is actually the 'fix' so the switch wont burn up, and as a bonus you can run them with the parking lights and they're a little brighter. http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/foglights.html

I need to figure out or find a wiring diagram for the headlights, or buy a plug in harness from Summit or somewhere.

These are actually those blue bulbs from AZ, but they're really white. Looks more yellow on my cell phone pic.

If they are stuck in non-projector headlamps, then there is no way they can compare to a good working stock setup. They may "look" brighter, and they may throw out a ton of light...but it is no projected where it needs to be. There is some decent reading on the subject here... http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html
