I have a 95 Cobra with the mods below. I have had it on autotrader since CHRISTMAS, yes CHRISTMAS with no luck in selling it. I am getting worried since I am house hunting and I need the car money for some furniture, down payment, etc. Anyone know any semi-local dealers willing to pick up my cobra for a decent price? Thank you.

Honestly, I'd like to get 11k, but who wouldn't, I have far more mods invested, but as I have come to find out, you don't get value out of the mods you have put it, LOWEST I would go would be 9k

Good luck, tyler had his cobra listed for over a year less then that, and it didn't sell. But with falling gas prices you might find some one. better luck spending a little time and return it to mostly stock.

Did you have any interest at all?

If you want to get rid of it and you need the money quick, a dealer certainly won't give you close to that -- so you might as well drop the price and be very negotioble.

Looking at the NADA site, high retail for your car (with 100k miles, you didn't say how many you have) is about $10,000 and low retail is about $7800. Wholesale will be about $5500 (that's your trade-in value). A dealer that is buying it outright would probably pay about $4500 cash. This is for a stock car that they could sell to anybody. A highly modified car like yours has zero value to most dealers. Only somebody like Kompact Kar Korner or Detroit Autoworks would be willing to touch something like that and they're not known for their generosity to either seller or buyer. I've worked in the business for a long time and, unfortunately, that's the way it works. Your car is only worth what they can sell it quickly for, not the time, effort and money that you put into it. To make the situation worse, most consumers see a supercharger and immediately think its been abused, which is usually true.

The mods actually reduce the value of the car. Are your running that supercharger with stock heads? What times does it run?

Wythors gave very honest advice. Consigning it to someone has additional risks, too. Drop the price until it sells, or remove the supercharger and sell that separately. I do not think high gas prices will improve the market for your car.

also be careful on consignment...a friend of mine once consigned a car to Bill's Wheelhouse and they stiffed him on his payment...I forget which excuse they finally settled on, but he never got his money.

I'll second that. Without getting into details, I will say I worked for a dealer (for a very short period of time) and one of the biggest money makers was taking cars on consignment. It ended up being a great way for the dealer to get the car cheap and make a huge profit on it. Don't do it.
