anyone know about 4.6 swap into ranger

My buddy hydro-locked his 4.0 97' Ranger...I have an extra complete 4.6 laying around and we wanted to know what all would need to be done to possibly put the 4.6 into his truck...Anybody done this???

I dont think it would line up with everything.... but you never know something unless you try

um, they do put 4.6's in explorers right... and a explorer is a ranger frame with a different body right.....

Yes they do put 4.6's in Explorers and I believe Sport Tracs too
The also came with 5.0's back up until 2 or 3 years ago.

The only reason Ford doesn't offer a v-8 in a Ranger from the factory is because they would take away sales from the F-series trucks.

It should work, but I bet it going to be a hell of a job.

My buddy put a 5.0 in an older Ranger about 5 years ago, but it was a Bitch of a job.

I'm guessing at a minimum he'll need motor mounts,engine cradle(K-frame)wiring,exhaust, and possibly a radiator.

I bet some has put a 4.6l in a Ranger.
