just wondering if anybody has any experience with ford racing 392 (351 base) engine? i am wondering what the difference between the 28.2 imbalance and the 28 ounce imbalance and whether or not there is any difference with a one or two piece rear main seal. the reason i ask is because i have a 69 stang and i want to go with the 392 sportsman II and trickflow H/C/I as well as a fox ecu and harness.

(summit racingpart numbers)

FMS-M-6009-C392 28 ounce imbalance 2 piece rear main seal

OR

FMS-M-6009-D392 28.2 ounce imbalance 1 piece rear main seal

what is better?

any help would be great. thanks

Not sure about the main seal, but i do know box stock wedges are going to be undersized for that setup.
I don't even think the cnc versions flow enough.
I seen the FMS 392 used with a set of street heat heads in a POS convertible setup for drag and it went 10's all natural.
I'm pretty sure the only problem with the street heats on it, was that only mac makes the correct headers for the application.

If my car was going to see alot of the strip, i would of went that route.

The 28.2 is the 28 oz. imbalance just swap on a set of AFR heads and get yourself an extra 70 horse

the problem i am running into is there are 2 Ford part numbers and two different prices as well but the engine descriptions are exactly the same. the difference in the part number is one letter m6009D392 or the m6009C392. they both apparently have the same internals come with the same parts... nobody seems to have an exact answer tho

im pretty sure i found it... looks like the "C" comes with a forged crank and the "D" is a cast steel crank. there is only a 90 dollar difference so forged steel crank sounds good to me..
