Anyone know ???

Is there any problems or is it just like a 5 speed car computer.

I did a 5-sp swap into my AOD car and used the auto computer. The only problem I encountered was that the car would occasionally die when I put in the clutch coming to a stop. Apparently the A9P doesn't have the facility to hold the idle up when the clutch is pushed in between shifts. The problem was taken care of with a SCT chip.

I never had that issue?

It's usually seen on 86-88 cars without cruise control as they don't have a VSS sensor. When i converted my car, i added the VSS. No issue here.

Basically if you convert to a 5-spd, you can't use the 5-spd comp unless you swap the AOD O2 harness out for a t-5 o2 harness. Reason for this is Ford ran a nuetral safety circuit into the o2 harness (no idea why) and the pinouts are different between the 5-spd and AOD. So using the AOD o2 harness with a 5-spd comp sends voltage down the wrong pin to the EEC and can fry it.

I have an 88 5spd that has auto computer and the vss sensor and it dies every once in a while when I come to a quick stop while pushing the clutch in..may be a different problem but I figured I'd throw it out there. Other than that it runs fine..

Well, my question was for Jeepguy, but same goes to you. I'm guessing you have an '88 by your SN?? If so, is this a converted MA car??

If it is, did you run the jumper wires from the EEC over to the VSS wiring and tap in? Do you have a VSS present on the trans?

Have you run the check engine codes yet?? '88's don't have a check engine light, so no idea what is stored
