My friend is considering purchasing one. Apparently they have aftermarket turbo kits. Stage 2 (or stage 1 i always get confused) turbo kit puts the car at 400hp (10,000$) and stage 3 turbo kit puts the car at 800hp (20,000$). All while weighing <2000pds. I thought it was pretty impressive seeing it outhandles ferraris already stock..

I just wish they at least put a v6 in it

I LOVE them! After buying my wife an MR2 spyder, I have a new found appreciation for power to weight ratios as well as lightweight cars in general. I'd own one in a second if I could!

I would love to own an Elise! There was one on ebay a while back that I wanted, but I just can't quite afford a $40K toy.

The Exige is pretty sweet too. I think it's pretty much the same as the Elise, but with a supercharger. I'm not sure if they're available here tho.

I cut my teeth on Euro cars, and like Paul, have a real appreciation for power/weight and that type of (Chapman-like) thinking. It is amazing how fun a lightweight car can be on twisties (the art of carrying velocity through corners and achieving primo exit speed). Makes other cars seem like plows.

I have seen a couple around and while I dont see them as aesthetic beauties like Pininfarina's stuff, I appreciate the function and would not hesitate to have one.

I agree my g/f just got 02 celica gt-s 6spd, only weights 2500. The elise has the same motor as celica's 1.8 vvti. For the what they cost It's not bad.
