Anyone make the factory scopp functional??

Anyone make the factory scoop functional??

I am thinking about making the factory scoop functional. I just want it to cool the engine bay. I took off my scoop today and realized it would only envolve cutting out the 6 cyl hole and then drilling out the honeycombs in the factory scoop.

Has anyone ever done this?

Are there any downsides I should think of ??

The only downside would be driving in the rain, you wouldn't want the motor to get wet. Other than that it would seem like a good idea

I wouldn't do it.

Mine wants to rip off at high speeds in stock form (end of the 1/4 track). I can't imagine how much drag it'd introduce with a huge pocket or air along side of all the crap it'd bring into the engine bay.

Cobra hoods, with the vents facing backwards are a different story. Had one of my 99 and cut those out. Hot days you could see the heat rising.

Apparently, 50Resto still has the obsolete kit from KarKraft which allows one to make the GT scoop functional up on their website if anyone wants to have a look.

Also, Mustang Weekly has a write-up on how to install it.

Ram Air for real

Here are a couple of pics of it...
