Anyone rebuild their tloc

Just purchased a 8.8, and before I install it I wanted to put new gears in it and a new tloc, but wondering if I should get a new tloc or just rebuild the one thats in it, the rear only has about 40,000 miles on it, but plan on having alot of power going to this thing and dont want any issues in the future. Also, I have a 7.5 in my car now, and the rear end didnt come with axles or brakes, are the axles the same, how big of a job to swap the brakes, and how do you read the rear end tag, the guy said it has 3.08 gear in it, but I never heard of a 3.08 from a 95.

Man for the money go to a junk yard and get a t-loc out of an F-150 truck with an 8.8, and have that t-loc rebuilt using extra clutches (like they do with the built up mustangs t-loc). The reason for the F150 t-loc is that it is a 31 spline unit and the stock mustangs t-loc is 28spline so you have a larger spline count (stronger carrier). You already need to buy axles, so look at superior (summit and 5.0/mm&ff mags) they are around $225-250 for a pair. the ring and pinion that you have or are going to buy will work on either truck or mustang t-loc so that is no big deal. also I think you can swap your rear breaks over (might upgrade with some kind of kit that is for the 8.8 sn95, as if you need a strong 8.8 you will need strong breaks as well). Get a guirdle and you should be able to toss that rear 8.8 some real good power befor it fails, like low 10's to high 9s.

well when you buy brake parts the ask if its cobra or non cobra which would lead me to believe that v6 and gt use the same brake parts. but just a guess

i agree about finding a truck carrier. since you gotta buy axles. and i dont think they are hard to find.
