I have no clue if its just tape but i have a 2011 gt mustang california special, well the californa specials dont have the 5.0 badges so i went ahead and ordered them and the one they sent me had tape AND you had to make 2 holes in the car to put it on but i went ahead and cut and grinded down the little sticks where you stick in the car.

I can't find the post now, or even remember if it was about emblems or not. But anyway, someone had researched it and found out there are 4 different part numbers for the fenders.

1 for base cars and GT/CS (no badges)
1 for GT's (5.0 badge)
1 for V6 Pony pkg. (tri-bar badge)
1 for GT500 (cobra)

So this tells me the ones with badges have alignment holes. If the badges were only stick on, there would be no reason for 4 different P/N's.

Edit; Found the post (#18)
has anyone removed their pony pckg emblems - Page 2 - Ford Mustang Forums

Im really considering getting a '11 CA Special myself, I saw one at the dealership the other day my god it was gorgeous. Not a fan of the 5.0 badges being absent. IF I do purchase one, Ill do what you did, buy the emblems and grind down the sticks, no drilling to my pony for an emblem!

I wish they had a retrofit "302 High Performance" emblem like back in the day. I've seen them , but not a direct replacemenr.

@V8Thrasher- ya the ca specials are nice. I have an all black one. Ca specials not having the 5.0 badge, makes ppl think its a 2010 4.6 mustang so I went ahead and bought em. It didn't take long to grind them down. Prolly 10 min. Those 5.0 badges make a difference because they make the car stand out more

I thought about removing my 5.0 badge and leaving it blank (assuming no holes). That way it would look like a 2010 V6 which had no badge...and I could fake out every guy at the light.

But I left them on, now every guy at the light wants to start something...or they give me the drooling look of envy.
