What size tire are you using? what kinda tire are you using? Et, Drag??? I can get a set of these for free and I figure they'll help my track time out if I can get a sticky tire for them. Anyone run them

I don't use them but those wheels are 0nly 7 inches wide so you are limited to what size tire you can run. I would just get some M/T ET streets 275-40-R17 if you have 17X9's right now. MY buddy pulled a 1.5 60ft time with them in his 03 GT 5 speed.

I have a 17x10.5" rear wheel so I'd use a 315/35 17 Mickey if I used a 17" tire which I might do still. How much power was your buddy making?

Yes, I used the 99-04 15" wheel with a set of 275-60-15 BFG drag radials. They are a 28" tire and huge.

They fit, but if your car is lowered you have to be careful not to flex the rear suspension much or they may kiss the fender and tear the tire up. It happened to me, but I was half on the road and half off, backing out of a driveway and the right rear tire got torn up on the fender lip a little bit. It was still useable, but you just need to be careful.

A smaller tire than that shouldn't have any problems though. They fit on the 15x7 wheel, they just bulge a little bit.

That particular friend has a 2003 GT vert. 4.6L 2V, 5spd, 4.10, MAC Pro-chamber, Flowmaster cat-back and that is it. No K&N, no tune..etc....the car can't make much more than 240-250RWHP, but he was launching at a crappy track and cutting those 1.5, 1.6's and running 13.80's.

Another friend has the 275-40's on his 90GT with a built 351W, 4.10, 5spd, cage, all tricked out. When we raced he had street tires and spun the tires and kept window to window with me. When we put the M/T's on his car, he hooked up totally, but we did not race after that because I already put my Cobra away.

cutting 1.5 60's and only running 13.80s? i know the verts are heavier, but thats just obsurd. i ran 13.60's with 2.0 60's on street tires and intake, plenum, TB as my only mods...

Yep. I couldn't believe it either. He has the rear end beefed up for it and He just lets it rip at 5,000RPM+ and prays he can still drive it home. After it gets outta the hole it falls on it's face and runs 13.80's. I think he cut 13.7's once.

15" rims will fit the GT's, but if you have Cobra brakes (Mach 1 or bullitt too) you'll need 16's in the back.

At least thats what I've discovered trhough reading posts here

Then you might want to ask the Cobra guys what they run, but i'm pretty sure 15's won't clear the rear brakes
