If you mean the cold air intake then yes I got the fenderwall version. I love the way it looks, but the downside is its all thick chrome which absorbs heat from the motor....so what it really is, is running cold air from the fender through warm pipes to the motor.

never had any personal experience with that but the guys ive talked to about the bbk manifold all seem to agree its all-show and no-go. Im sure it is better than stock, but it does seem to just basically look cool and thats it.

i've heard that they are good for show but not good for performance i heard that the best intake for performance are edelbrock's!

for the price, a Systemax or TFS TH would be a much better investment. I read a dyno test in one of the mustang mags, and was not impressed.

well from my tests they are like a edelbrock performer.. nothing to jump up and down about.. for performance they aren't.. for a really mild stocker.. with stock heads and a cam.. there nice.. but then again.. edelbrock performer is better from my testing

actually from 5.0 mustang and SF mags the BBK SSI outperformed the GT40, edelbrock performer, and TF street, and was 1 horsepower under and 1 tq over the edelbrock RPM..this test was done on a 347 stroker though...SSI is not a weak intake, it hangs with all of the other big dogs

And on the 302 ci test that 5.0 Mustang performed the BBK SSI was mediocre losing out to both the GT40 and Edelbrock. I believe "confused" was the adjective that the writer of the article used to described the SSI on a 302 ci motor and the author of the thread has a 302 under the hood.

i had someone all lined up to buy my GT-40 int. when i got my BBK-SSI. The BBK intakes where still on back order when the testing results started to come out in the mags. Needless to say I canceled my order. As for the test on the 347, while the SSI did edge out the others a little, unless your running a stocker it dosent seem worth the money to buy a new intake for a few extra hp. By the hype the BBK was supposed to blow away all the other intakes in its class.

Hi. I have an SSI manifold on a Ford crate engine in a kit cobra. I figured at 350 horse and 2200 lbs. it should move, and I wanted the latest greatest manifold. Unfortunately, what moved was coolant through the manifold in a fissure and leaked out by the #4 cylinder manifold bolt. Also I have to mention the spacing on the fuel rails does not match the spacing on the intake ports so the injectors are not parallel, and they leaked gasoline on the intake manifold. This was after I spent 2 hours grinding casting flash out of intake runners to improve flow.

I contacted John Brockman at BBK who has been very gracious and helpful. I boxed up the manifold and fuel rails to return to BBK, but FedEx has no record of a request to pick it up for a return to BBK.

I have been trying so hard to get this car together and now I am stuck with a manifold that leaks. I have no other recourse than to sue BBK in small claims court.

Just an update:

John, Bryan and everyone at BBK continued to be concerned and extremly helpful. In the end they had been trying the best to get the manifold back and remedy the situation. It is the folks a FedEx that are incompetent. Thanks to John, Bryan and all those at BBK that stand behind their product and are helpful fixing a situation.

I question a product being pushed out the door when they are still having quality issues like shown above. In my industry should a vendor cause such issues with a customer there would be significant action to correct it in a VERY timely manor. Reading this has lead me to wonder just what the priorities for BBK are...and just where customer satisfaction falls. I'm very sorry to hear the troubles your having, and would be interested to see how BBK makes good for you.

Well he just said that BBK is trying hard to solve the problem. I wouldnt go boycott style so soon. So far i have a lot of BBK stuff on my car and love it. Their headers are awesome too. Give it time and the intake will be reformed.
