If you plan to run KB on a good flowing H/C/I combo, I recommend going with the 2.2L. The 1.5L kit was put together for a stock 302 running LESS than 9 psi.
Oh I know the 2.2 would be the better choice for me of the two blowers, but I found a very good deal on the 1.5 and was just curious on a couple things.
Ok, well here's another bump for ya. I don't think that you're going to find too many folks running a 1.5 over an H/C/I. They just don't displace enough air in their efficient range to make it worth doing. If you're thinking about putting that thing in over the top of your 331, then forget about it. It will not support a 331 with an H/C/I. By the time you got that thing spinning fast enough so that the motor wasn't attempting to 'suck' air through the blower, you'd be way out of thermal efficiency range and discharge temps would be counter productive. For the setup in your signature, you need a larger displacement and more efficient screws than what's available on the 1.5L. I know it doesn't appear to be a huge dierence when you look at the number 1.5 and 2.2 but let's not forget that these are positive displacement blowers and that the displacement is 'per revolution'. You'd be tossing money down the drain regardless of how a good the deal was.
I would wait to get a 2.2 KB. I had the 1.5 KB on the 5.0 and recently had the engine rebuilt and stroked to a 331 (after we blew the 302 at the track). I still have the 1.5 kb on the 331 and it's only putting out 5-6 lbs of boost off the same pulleys that I had 9 psi on the 302. I have AFR 165's (left over from 302) and a new Anderson B21 cam. I'm leaving the pulleys as they are because I don't want to overspin the 1.5 to raise the boost any further. It's still fun with the 1.5 KB; but definately under producing what it can and should be.
