I noticed no difference when running that filter, but I also change the oil very often when the car was running

Nate,

I haven't used them since WAYYYY back when the dealer changed the oil for me. My owners manual says to use the HP filter. But I do think they are a bit pricey for changing the oil as often as I do, and I can't bear to skip a filter change with an oil change. All I've ever used was the regular Motorcraft ones, changed every 3,000-4,000 miles.

That page on the filters is very interesting. I'll have to look at it in detail later.

I work at a Ford dealer and the only time we use the "HP" filter is in the old 460 ci motors that require a FL-1A.

Customers with a heavy duty dump truck /flat bed/cargo truck and older RVs are the people that usually request the "HP" filter.

The HP filter has a much thicker case than the regular FL-1A to avoid bursting under certain HEAVY DUTY driving conditions.
The gasket is also much thicker and wider.

What manual is this -- do you have a Cobra R or something? Does a Cobra R specify that?
