Anyone try wet sanding?

I just saw an episode of Trucks on TV and he used 2000 grit sandpaper to wet sand a 95-99 Ford Explorer. He then used 2 different buffing/polishing compounds to bring out the color-it looked really good. Has anyone been brave enough to do this on their car? My 93 definitely needs this treatment, but I don't want to mess it up. I've used a clay bar on it but it still has those really faint swirl marks. Any info is appreciated.

There are a lot less agressive methods to remove swirl marks. Wet sanding is for removing orange peel or deep scratches. It is a last resort method where nothing else will work.

Clay bars will NOT remove swirl marks. Have you tried a paint cleaner like Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner? You can find it at just about any parts store. You might even try Meguiars ColorX, it is new and should also help in removing those swirls.
