I've got this throttle cable from Summit, and I am not sure how I should hook it up. Looks like I'm going to have to rig it on there. I've got a 94 GT but it's set up with the 88-93 style intake/TB. I can't get it to go on the TB, but I think I'll have to drill out the ball for it to work. Any help would be great. I'm also communicating with the Lokar tech to figure it out, but it's starting to sound like he thinks it'll just bolt right up! T

Does your cable look like the one pictured on Summit's website?

You mean this one. I just download that picture, and noticed that it said "Image is a representation of this part. Actual part may vary." Also the file name is a different part number!

But anyway, mine looks like that except the end on the top is different. The end on the bottom is the same. The other end has a rod with a hole and you can remove the rod with the supplied allen wrench. I should have the right cable, because the package had the right part # on it and even said EFI MUSTANG right on it. I cannot even figure out which end is supposed to go to the TB and which to the pedal! HELP PLEASE!

I'd say the bottom end of the pic goes to the pedal. The top end of yours is perhaps an opening where a ball would go or is it an actual ball type?

That's what I'm starting to think, since it has that end on both kinds of cables....not sure what kind of car that one in the pic is for, though. I don't understand how it's supposed to stay on the pedal, however. And the other end with the rod doesn't make sense either. I think this thing is retarded!

The one pictured would have the top end go to the throttle body by removing the bushing and putting the bolt though the hole and attaching the nut. But yours is a ball style as you'd mentioned something about drilling out the ball, right?

Yeah, it's a ball style. Aren't all the Fox bodies that way? This TB worked fine in my friend's 88 with his stock cable. I'd hate to ruin this new TB for nothing, I'm about to just use a stock cable. I hate to waste money too, maybe summit will take this back if I cannot figure it out. Threw away the package though.

Yep, I think so anyway. How does the hole diameter compare to the stock cable? Obvious difference? Perhaps your cable got mispacked or something then.
Worst case, I'm only a couple hours north of you......

Okay, the Lokar tech set me straight...I feel stupid now. Summit doesn't make it very clear when they sell it!

Danny:

The TC-1000EFI is for 1994 and 1995 Ford EFI's. The TC-1000HT will fit the 1986 - 1993 EFI's. You will need to return the TC-1000EFI and exchange it for the TC-1000HT. This cable will snap onto the ball you have now. The u-shaped clevis with the roll pin will actually remove from the cable. Replace it with the stock plastic retainer from your original cable.

Thanks,

Steve

Ahh. Yep, ordering the 94-95 cable for a 86-93 cable would do it. BTW, I do not have a Lokar cable, I was just trying to help you out. At least you got it straight though.

How much was that cable?! I need one of those due to the fact that I have broke 2 of the autozone ones due to them having plastic ends...

Will that work with my car since its carbd? If not any other suggestions?

Thanks

It was $32, which is not bad but from what that tech guy told me you will still have to use the plastic retainer, unless you use a different kind of pedal. I think I could rig it on there, though. Not bad for $30 and worth a shot. Dunno about the carb, but the TC-1000HT is supposed to be univeral.

They should have carbed applications as well, a buddy of mine has a carbed 351 87 GT with a Lokar cable.
