Just wanted to know how much HP it could handle. Is it as good or better than Centerforce DF?

I am running a Spec Stage 1 and am not real sure, but I am guessing about 400hp to the rear wheels. I like the clutch, but the TOB sucks. Go get a oem TOB from the ford place.

5.0 from 95, does your clutch "chatter" I just went to the spec website and this is what it says about torque capacity:

stage 1 - 410 - $199
stage 2 - 520 - $319
stage 3 - 680 - $339

Paul is right, the TOB sucks. I have a Spec stage 2 and i like it. My Clutch chattered for the first 1000 miles but now it is fine.

Stage III here and it did chatter for 400 miles. Spec recommends to break it in easy. Sure enough at 390 miles the chatter disappeared.

I want one but can't get one right now. Some of the Street Warrior guys are using them and they love it.

Some of you guys need to get your facts straight about SPEC's TOB's.
They used to use the very same tob's Ford uses. They had problems with these and have since changed to Timken products. No tob problems since.
This info came directly from SPEC. If you have had problems with there tob's, they were probably from an old inventory.

What facts? I said the throwout bearing sucks and it does. I am well aware that the throwout bearings are Timken products and that SPEC changed their design after the initial TOB's they used were getting many complaints. In fact...I spoke with a tech at SPEC (Star) for about 20 minutes regarding this issue. The "new" TOB they used were actual spec'd originally for race competition in certain series and performed flawlessly. While the material appears to be plastic, it is actually a composite that is very strong.

This leads it to be pretty indestructible. So why do I say it sucks then?

BECAUSE IT CHIRPS LIKE A NEST FULL OF BABY BIRDS!!! I have tried it greased...ungreased...no help. I learn to live with it. But next time, I"m putting a Ford unit in...that's just my preference.

I'm installing a new clutch because I need a new TOB (the chirping is unbearable) and might as well replace the clutch while i'm at it. So if i'm trying to get away from the chirp I definately don't want to go with SPEC if they chirp. Would it be better to buy a SPEC and use a ford TOB or should I go with an entirely different clutch (if so, any suggestions)?

It finally stopped chattering sometime. I don't really remember because the POS Spec TOB was chirping so bad I could not hear over it. I would still go with a Spec clutch, I just would get the TOB from Ford. And it might be the same thing Spec uses, but I know when I changed from theirs for the 3rd time, I went Ford OEM and it no Chirpy.....

I've decided on a SPEC I with a Ford TOB. What else do I need to replace and work on while i'm in there. I've heard something about pilot bearings and a couple other things but i'm not quite sure.

BTW what is chattering and what causes it? I don't want to get rid of one noise and get stuck with a different one. Thanks for all responses.

pilot bearing (not bushing) as mentioned. rear main seal. check the retainer, pivot ball, fork, and input shaft for leaks. good luck.

Chatter is just where the new clutch is getting broken in on the fly wheel which is something else you might want to go ahead and change while you are in there. I think my chattering was made worse because I had my fly wheel turned and not replaced. I would be a whole lot smoother if you change it out. I think you can get a new one for about $100 or under.

I have a SPEC II and it does grab very well. I have probs w/ mine though b/c I need an adjustable clutch quadrent b/c mine still chatters when I take off in 1st gear or first back up and Im not sure if its still slipping or not b/c I havnet got on it for awhile. Im hoping that once we put in the ACQ then the chatter and slipping will go away.
