anyone use lucas oil stabilizer, when im crusing oil pressure is at like 37. Is that too low?

SNAKE OIL! Motor oils are already a complex combination of chemicals that work very well together. There really is no need for an "oil stabilizer" and your owner's manual will back me up on this one.

ideal pressure is 10psi for every 1000rpm, aslong as your HOT idle pressure is above 10 you're fine. As for oil additives...I would not use them in any of my vehicles....snake oil sounds about right.

My old 302 use to tick after making a 1/4 mile run at the strip. The lifter would hang up. I was running Mobil 10w-30. My mechanic, who has been an engine builder for 30 years reccomended Valvoline 10w-40 with Lucas Oil Stabilizer. The ticking stopped. He swears by Lucas Oil products.

Desert temps can get HOT as obviously you know, I imagine that 10w30 would run like water when temps get up there...10w40 would be excellent IMO, heck even 20w50 would'nt be out of line if your still seeing lower pressure with the triple digit temps outside.

I agree about the thicker weight if needed (I run both of the weights Derek noted). The only time I wouldnt is if the engine is fairly fresh - tolerances should be tight and it should not be needed.

Or run a synthetic (in my experience in the heat, synthetic 15W-50 at operating temps holds pressure like a dino 10W-40 [in hot ambient temps]. Even if pressure is lacking, you know you have top notch clinging (esp with more PAE in the oil).

Hey thanks for all the responses, i think im going to go with 10w-40 for now until summer and than go 15w-50 when time comes around. I will definatly let you guys know how it goes!
