The guy I bought my LX from had a convertible one in his barn he'd bought that only had 20k miles on it, spotless, under a cover. He said back when the stock market was tanking instead of losing all his retirement money, he withdrew his 401k and bought that car. He said he planned on keeping it ten years or so and recouping his money when the economy turns around. Also, I heard from the Ford dealership in town where I live, another guy did the same thing with a brand new GT500. Told 'em that when it arrived to leave the plastic on the seats, and film on the body panels, and he put it away. Crazy.

Wonder if anybody is investing in G.overnment M.otors the same way???

There was a GM dealer near me wayyyy back that did that. Had at least one early IROC Z in wrapp and stored in a shipping container. Saw a GNX that was at a dealer and never sold since new. They had it sitting on their show room floor and had some miles (like a couple hundred) that was pretty cool.

There was a local Chevy dealership (out of business now) a few years ago that had a couple of early 70's Cosworth Vega's. I believe the owner or someone in his family bought them and put them right into storage. Eventually the guy died and so the car collection was sold off. If I remember the story right, they we untouched and like new except for the dry rotted tires.

Myself, if I buy it, I am driving it. Sometimes driving it like I stole it

If I want to look at a car I will buy a picture!
