Sorry folks, this is not a mustang but I need some help and this is one of the best places to get it. To start off I live in Nevada so I never have had to deal with Rust. My girlfriend has an 88 pontiac 6000 which is originally from Ohio, and has just made its way out here about a year ago(that was a really fun road trip). Anyway, yesterday she calls me and says that her brake pedal is going all the way to the floor, so I go down there thinking a wheel cylinder went out or something. To my amazement and horror the brake line rusted out and it looks like the other one is not far behind. Also, the fuel line(dont know if it is pressure or return) is also rusted through and leaking. Is this normal for this to happen in the wet states? What are my options? What do you guys do if this happens to your car? I assume I have to replace the whole line but I am trying to avoid that if at all possible. This is for the rear passenger side, and the drivers side is soon to be joining in the leak rust fest. Sorry for the long winded post, but I really have no idea what to do. Also, if I do have to run a whole new line, is there any kind of flexible line I could run? I am a college student and money is very tight(semester starts in 3 days) Thanks guys!
