Do you have to be at WOT to do this, or can it be partial throttle??

I know it's not good for the tranny, but the 2-3 shift point is pretty lame.

I "think" its referred to as the 1-d-1 shuffle.

Don't do it. The aods can't handle shifting it on your own, your gonna blow it.

get a manual valve body such as lentech, which will allow you to shift it yourself with blowing it up.

The shuffle is usually always fatal to your aod. MIne held up for quite awhile but i just went with the Lentech valvebody to save it. It can be done at any rpm as long as the valvebody is calling for an upshift (rpms are there) Save your trans and get the valvebody, the install is very basic and can be done quite easily even with the tranny in the car.

The shuffle is fatel because of an internal ring blowing off the drum. It will do the same thing with a different valve body. If you cut the retainer and lock it in so it can't fly off, it will last forever, I had one done that lasted 40,000 very hard miles. Only reason I rebuilt it was because my OD band was getting worn, but the clutches still looked good. AOD's aren't junk if you have them built right. They get a bad wrap. I'll put some money on an AOD being alot stronger than a stock t-5.

I used Lentech's street terminator valvebody at setting #3 becuase i went to a non lockup stall convertor. I think it's the #2 you would need if you plan on keeping your lockup stall.

I read that doing the shuffle engages the od band to hold second gear, thats why most guys lose od when they do the shuffle. A quality rebuild kit and a valvebody with an electric od delete will allow you to use all 3 gears 1=1, D=2, OD =3 and you flip an electric switch to engage od.

Lentech has these things in 800 hp cars and they back their stuff up with a nice warranty.

The OD band will not engage, that is not possible. The only way the OD band can engage is if it is in OD. Lentech is the $hit, but transgo and locked retainers with a police or taxi direct drive, and its good to take a brutal beating.

There's nothing wrong with Lentech. We have one with more than 100 passes and it works as good as the day it was installed.
