The other day I noticed my AOD was not shifting out of 1st and I'm not sure why. I was looking on this website and they mention a common cause to be a misadjusted TV cable. I have a windsor conversion with a carburetor and a Lokar bable to the tranny. I verified the operation of the cable and the actuation of the TV linkage. I then hooked up pressure gauge to the TV test port and at idle and with the tranny in neutral it said ~30psi. I know it is supposed to be at 5psi so I made an adjustment to bring it to 5psi at idle and then took the car out for a spin.
It still does not shift out of 1st. I also disconnected the cable completely and drove a block or so and does not shift out of 1st.
Any ideas? Doesn't sound to me like the TV valve is stuck because the pressure does respond to me tugging on the cable.
Could it be the governor? Or the 1-2 shift valve? How can I verify/fix these things?
